Infrared Beaming

Just wondering what is good software for beaming to xp, preferably free as funds are scarce.

Thanks.

What do you want to beam? If your PC has an IrDA port you can beam files natively. You can also run Activesync over IrDA too. Perhaps if you can be a bit more specific...

Isn't a Treo a palm based unit? Would that even support the beaming of attachments from email?

Yeah it's palm based but I know someone out there has the answer for me! I know there are some apps (hopefully free) that will let me download word and excel files and then move them through Irda.

Anything with IR port will support file transfer as long as it can accept incoming files / data. (TV Remote Control sends different frequency and cannot receive, if not learning remote)

At this moment, right know, I am using very lame Wireless Link S/W that comes with XP to send mp3s to my Ax5 slowly.. If you don't know how to use it where to find it, command to IRFTP.EXE or search for it on your /system ~ /win** folder. Once run, and once on the other device ACCEPT ALL INCOMING TRANSFER is turned on, you can send and receive with no problem and Beam Away~! :) I am using Total Commander's Receive Infrared Files Here command and start transfer from my laptop. Wireless Link is really lame, because it is slow (start up), it is buggy (it runs twice and doesn't show) and with no options (data send rates, break down, etc...)

I am seeking a different s/w to solve this issue. Perhaps FastLynx can help. I will try that soon, after my transfers finish. ;)

Good Luck, and please share what s/w you like to use for IR Transfers~! :)

Thanks

You might try "IR copy v1.2" from freewareppc.com
I can use it with another IR program for palm and send whatever I want.
This one may help you....
Or maybe not?

Yep, I too use the wireless link. I also use AS wirelessly too but for speed it's quicker to just use the Win2k wireless link feature and at "light speed" I get my files zapped over :)

Did someone ask how fast the IR connection is?

If so, it is about 9600-115200 bps Slow :)

I think someone asked this on another topic, but I couldn't find my way back there.. :D

For anything faster, you'd need to change your color to.. say.. blue? maybe.. hehe
