Any fix for self-power on in cradle?
I'm new to this whole pocket PC thing...but has anyone found a fix to the Axim powering on even after I've shut it off when it's in the charging cradle? Seems sort of silly if the PC it's plugged into is off and there isn't any hot-syncing going on. Help would be appreciated.

It will stay off if you unplug the USB cable. I use a front USB socket for easy access. Sometimes I just want to charge without sync.

Pocket PC is capable of continuous sync; that is, as long as it is in the cradle, if you change something in Outlook or a file that is synchronized with the PPC, it will immediately sync. Thus by default, it is better to let it just stay on while in the cradle.

If you must have it offwhile in the cradle, you can go into Power on the Settings page and on the Control tab, tell it to turn off the device while on external power after a few minutes. This would, in effect, allow a synchronization, then turn the device off shortly thereafter.

As long as it is on external power, I never tell the Axim to turn itself off. While on battery power, I tell it to turn down the brightness after 15 seconds, and off after 3 minutes.

EDIT
See what I get for speaking out of turn? It won't turn itself off while connected via USB. It you insist on having it be off, you need to unplug the USB connection. However, I wouldn't worry about it. THe device is continuously charging until it's full while in the cradle, and then stops charging. No damage is done to the battery, and you can go about your business...

And you can set the display to power down after 5 min or so, even while on power in the cradle. It will just sit there keeping itself intune with the pc.

I think you can also set the Sync to the Manual option and then it will check once on initial cradling, after which you can turn it off and it stays off.

I think you guys missed my point...
When I was talking about the Axim turning on...I didn't mean while my PC is on. I can understand the thing powering on when I first put it in the cradle. I can also see how if the PC is on, ActiveSync will want to stay connected and keep the Axim running.

What I was talking about though, is after the Axim is in the cradle for a while. After I turn off my computer and it stays off for a while. Spontaneously, my Axim will light up. I've walked over to it and turned it off. Then a minute or two later, it powers on again. Call me crazy, but I don't want the thing to start up when nothing is trying to sync with it. Unplugging the USB cable has worked, but really that's sort of a pain.

If you just want to charge withou tsyncing, why not unplug the power from the cradle and plug it directly to the device?

Again, even if the PC is powered off, the Ax will wake up if the Activesync settings are set to sync every x minutes. Set it to sync ONLY manually and it won't wake up at all.

Not only that but
You would have to have another program running to do that.
go to settings - System - Memory - running programs.
see what all you still have running. ( you will be suprised).
look at those programs and then their options. could be the active sync, but could also be the email. or calandar.

Never know!

On your Axim go Start->Active Sync and tap 'Stop'. Then turn off Axim and forget about it. It works for me!

Go into the ActiveSync settings and be sure the radio button for Sync with Server is blank (off). If any part of server sync (for use with MS Exchange Server), is on, the Axim will try to link to the server at the specified interval.

After your Axim syncs, just press the power button to turn it off and it should be alright.

This setting also causes the phantom power-on after you have removed the Axim from the charger and placed it in your case or pocket.
