Worried

I followed your DVD to AVI instructions. I am now trying to reencode following your instrucions. I keep getting errors stating "cannot start video compression The source image format is not acceptable (errorcode -2)"
What do I do now?

Hi all, I'm fairly new to this DivX encoding process.. am hoping that someone can assist me .. I have this collection of Friends episodes in DivX, most of them @ 74 MB.. is there a way to reencode the DivX files into smaller DivX files for the Axim ? I have tried to reencode but the result was frame lags and a greenish tinge when I play the video.

Any help is welcomed. Thanks.

For encoding and ripping help you might want to check out vcdhelp.com They have lots of great faqs forums and programs to take you to encode in any format you can imagine

Well I think I figured it out. I was usind Divx 505 not 503. For whatever reason 505 will not work with the pinned setting. I found a copt at augamers site via a google search for divx 503. Running it now with my fingers crossed.

everything worked perfectly. Using the divx 503 codec was the answer. Don't use the 505 codec with this instruction set. Use the following link to get the 503 codec

Fibrizo, you are the man.

Thanks freeulster I was looking for that. When I tryed the 503 and this guide...well it worked, but I found it easier to use 4.12 and the guide at this link.

Maybe it's just me

I am using the divx 505 codec and have played 2 movies (fingers crossed). Can a person install divx 505 AND 503 codec?
btw, what is the "wear" on the dvd drive when "flasking". It was my understanding that when converting a dvd to vcd (on the fly) that you should only do 1-2 disks a week because the wear on the dvd drive was tremendous. Any opinions?

Well when I downloaded 503 it took out and replaced my 4.12 in my virtualDub. To get it back in there (I like 4.12 better) I had to down 4.12 again. oh! and I uninstalled 503 from my computer first.

I'd like to know also is there a way to get all Divx 505, 503, 412 in the vidio compression window? It be nice to have a choice.

505 only caused me problems whenI was trying to recompress file for my axim. It work ok for playing though. I'm sure there it does work but the settings listed here seem to cause errors in 505. Maybe someone knows what changes to make, but I'm not that bright. May be a topic for a new thread though

Just downloaded divx 5.05 and it seems to work exactly like 5.03 for the purposes of this guide. What part are your errors at?

Hmm

what if :

When i goto :
"video" then "Frame Rate" and it says 12.000fps???

this is my only DIVX movie that is at this low fps...i guess that will mean i will not do any changes like "decimate by 2 "

am i right??

guess i'll have to leave it at "process all frames"

right??

By the Way fibrizo....THIS IS A F%&*IN GOOD GUIDE....good work!!!

What about other guides for regular FULL SIZE ENCODING

Correct. 12 fps requires no change.

ok...so now i start to test out my newly formed videos with windows media player on my home PC first...THEY ARE PERFECT....especially the sound...but there is a little problem....

There is reddish tinge or hue in the colors that gradualy increases to a maximum when all faces become reddish scarlet and then it suddenly dissappears just to reappear after like 2 minutes...and so on...

btw...thanks man for your rapid response....SUPER!!!!!!!!!

Since there is an .avi file. How do you convert this to play on a vcd player? Using TMPGEnc version 12a is no longer available. Has anyone tried with the new version?
