Ax+T68i+Socket BT=Wireless Internet

Here is how I got this combo to work (on T-Mobile):

It is very easy. I have the socket bt card, so I loaded the drivers on the ax, insert the card and use the socket "get connected" wizard. Go to the t68i, connect, bluetooth, add device. The 2 units communicate a little, click ok, type in the same password on both devices, and they are "paired"

Out of the box, the socket software adds a "dial contact" to the options when you tap and hold a contact on the ppc. This is the only function that is added by its software.

To connect to the internet, go to connections and create a new one with "bluetooth phone" as the modem. Then enter the phone number of the ISP you want to dial. I use a number from
www.freedialup.org
because my plan is not a data plan, but it does have free long distance. The numbers for that ISP are in mass, RI, and NH, but they charge nothing for the connection. So I just use minutes to connect. If you have a data plan w/ t-mobile they can give you the numbers to enter for the connection. If you need more info on this, there is a good cell phone forum at www.howardforums.com

Good Luck

I'm having trouble setting up my Socket Bluetooth CF card in my Axim I get the following when I try to run the Bluetooth Devices link in My Documents:

"Unable to start Socket Bluetooth. Please be sure your Bluetooth card is inserted and try again. Reset your device if you see this message again. (6209)"

Also when I put in the card every time it wants me to name the card. It seems like the driver isn't loading any ideas?

I have never had this error, so I am not sure about this one. You might try uninstalling, then reinstalling the drivers.

Have you ever been able to partner with any BT devices yet?

Axim/Socket BT error 6209

I've setup the card in the PCMCIA adapter in my laptop and I can pair up with my phone and by Belkin USB Bluetooth adapter.

I'm waiting to see what the response is from Socket this morning.

Socket said my card was bad event though it worked in a Friends iPaq so I sent it back and they sent me a replacement which amzingly works with my Axim. Now if I can get the dialing options straightned out to use my t68i to get on the internet.

I paired up my devices but now I can't browse via the Network Access on my Belking USB Bluetooth adapter, and I can't remember the settings for my T68i to use the Data network.

I'm planning on doing this also. Could I call my home ISP instead of calling my phone service ISP? My DSL ISP (sbcglobal) gives me inlimited dial up access. I also have a T68 too.

Newegg has this card for $55.00

Looks like a good deal - this is the lowest priced bluetooth card i have found yet.

Darkjedi,
I don't see a reason why you could not do this. Just make sure that your cell carrier allows data calls. If they offer the service themselves, then I am sure it will work.

Good Luck.
