Any quick ways to Rebuild your PPC

Last night, after fighting to remove a stubborn app (although no more stubborn than me!) I resorted to the Hard Reset method of "uninstall you %$^&#$".

After renaming my PPC to what it was and doing the "Add/Remove Programs"bit from ActiveSync, I was suitably impressed at how easy most things are to restore.

But there's some things still missing that I wondered if anyone would suggest an easier way to rebuild. For instance, I check four different email accounts with my PPC, and it's a pain to type them all in on the Axim (is there a way to enter it on a Desktop?).

So I wondered if anyone had advice on a simple process to let you do the "uninstall you %$^&#$" routine that made life easier to get EVERYTHING back. Well, everything important.

Another bit of data I lost was my WEP key. Fortunately, I've typed it in enough times in Hex that I finally had the presence to put it into a FlexWallet Entry so I could cut and paste it.

Thanks for any advice.

Jerry

Yep, I did a "clean install" of my apps and then backed that up. AS will allow you to do it too. Then when you want to restore you have a preconfigured platform.

Thanks very much, and sorry for being such a newbie.

I didn't realize that the backup function in AS would also capture all those config details. I will try it as soon as I get home, while my Axim is nice and clean.

It really is like a restore point in windows. Try a new app. If it's works and no lockups, update your restore point... one app at a time.

Thanks,

Jerry

Exactly.... Just be aware that the AS backup will backup your Main Memory only. The process will not backup your storage card or Built In Storage. Those have to be done manually.

................or with Sprite.

Think of it this way:

ASync is to BackUp
--as--
Sprite is to Ghost

Why would you need to backup your BIS or storage card? They don't disappear when hard starting and when you restore your main memory all the files and programs will work off the BIS and storage card without reinstalling them.

BTW, i installed PocketMon because i liked that CPU meter on the today page but it doesn't seem to be working, it always shows 0%. Do i have to turn it on somehow? Is there another program out there that does the samething?

Thankz

It's still all electronic media and it never hurts to have a backup of anything & everything.........often.

And if an app does it automatically & painlessly and in such a way that it does not hog memory........why not??

..........cudden' hoit!
