Dell Case can hurt your Axim Screen
ok... it might be a bit of an exaggeration but, it took me a couple weeks to discover the cause of bubbles appearing near the top of my screen beneath my Dell screen protectors.
The Dell case (I assume they are all made the same) has a seam in the cording up top, just to the left of the velcro. I always put my Axim in the case with the screen facing towards the front of the case. When I would close the flap of the Dell case, it would put pressure on the seam and press it into the top of my Axim screen, causing the screen protector to “stick” to the screen; probably the result of a localized vacuum.
I was constantly sliding a business card or something under the screen protector in an effort to break the bond.
Now I store my Axim in the case with the screen facing the back of the case and I no longer have that problem.

Hmmmmmmm, FWIW, I don't have that problem with my WriteSHIELD protectors. In fact, the one on my Ax has been there about a month, no bubbles, no nothing. I even had to check to make sure it was still there ;)

I've been using the same screen protector for 7 weeks now. Maybe it's time to change.
What model WriteSHIELD protectors are you using?
How do they fit?

They fit perfectly as they are designed for the Axim. Also, they are not gummy - have no noticable adhesive.

WriteShields are very good (have some) and also ClearGuards (have those too). Both are anti-glare and good feel. No bubbles either.

I just got my Axim this week. What is the difference between the two screen shields that you mentioned?

Can't speak for Clearguards, but WriteShield makes a very good product that doesn't bubble and isn't sticky (won't leave any residue on the glass). It reduces glare but at the same time has no discernable effect on the image. It also mimics the screen in feel.

I just recieved my WriteSheilds this AM and so far I am very happy with them...no glare, easy "installation", and yes they are a bit expensive but hopefully I'll get some longevity out of them.

if you're in canada you can order the writeshields from www.handheldcanada.com
I acutally like the feel of the writeshield surface better than on the bare screen itself. the screen feels as if you're writing on glass, whereas the writeshields have more of a paper feel to them. the fact that they cut down on the glare so much is a big plus to me, since I read the news on my Ax on the bus to/from work during the day, where there's a lot of glare from all the daylight.

I just checked my axim, and i do not currently use screen guards. there appears to be a tiny scratch of a line 1/2 inch long right where that seam is. ##$%^$#~@!!!!
i now put my axim in facing backwards.

i also put the axim into the case backwards, looks to be better that way especially on a head on impact. does the axim have a screen protector on it when you purchase it, if not does the stylus damage it?

No, the Axim does not have a screen protector on it when it arrives. The stylus could damage it, but it is of high enough quality that in most cases, it won't.

Purchase Writeshields from US or Canada?
Would it be cheaper to order the Writeshields screen protectors from www.handheldcanada.com or www.ppctechs.com (using the coupon code "pocketpcpassion")? I'm located in Canada.
