I want to use my axim as an answering machine, with 4 different messages, which i can choose with the four buttons. Can you assign a button to a file, so a sound file will be played, as you push one button? Or can one make a macro, thay will start a sound file??? Maybe, I'm dreaming too much...
A professional answering machine will cost us a 1200$. I want the axim to play 4 different messages, depending on time. He will be coupled to the telephone central trough the mini-jack. The operator just has to choose the sound file by pushing one of the four buttons, then the sound file should be played contineously, untill you choose another.

I don't think he's looking for any kind of phone/automated machine.
I think he just wants 4 different "messages" (mp3?), that are selectable by manually pushing one of the 4 hard buttons, which will then play the selected file continuously into the BG Music of his phone system via the Headphone jack.
I don't think you can assign a File to a Hard Button, at least I wasn't able to....(but I use Vito ButtonMapper).
However, you could create Soft "Buttons" on a Today Screen that open particular Files. Then just configure your Media Player to run in a continuous loop.

Sorry to disagree with a veteran here like you.... but when he said playing continuously... what he want is the sound to be played everytime the phone rings, until he decided to use a different message....
what I don't see is the way in which the PBX (Telephone Central) will tell the Axim to start playing the message....
AJODOGNE:
You can do, what you want with a PC... repost if you want to do it in that direction....

Where do you get that opinion out of this quote from his last post?.........or either of his posts?
I agree, he does need to repost in this thread to clarify what he needs/wants.

Sorry for the confusion. 1200$ is a lot of money, for an digital answering machine (in Belgium) with four different messages. That's why I didn't replace it for a new one, but got a PC on it with four different sound files, which will play contineously. The operator can choose on the desktop which sound file has to be played. Now I was curious if I could replace the PC by an Axim. Sound files no problem, connecting to the telco central via the headset output no problem, the only problem I got is that I would assign the four hard buttons on the Axim to four different sound files, if the operator pushes a button, a sound file has to be played contineously, but that doesn't seem to be easy???
