How to use bluetooth with ppc and laptop plus connecting to wiredlan to other pc desk

Guys...

I need your help.

My setup at home as follow:
2 pc desktop conneting using switch wired lan. (no router or wifi)
I can share internet and file between these 2 pc and laptop via wired lan.

Then I install bluetooth on one of the PC that connecting to the main modem (I called it PC 1).

Then I can share the internet or file from PC 1 that has modem to laptop and ppc via bluetooth .

But I cannot share internet with the other pc 2.

Then I found out that the ip for this bluetooth is 192.168.0.1.
So when I tried to connect PC2 to the PC1, pc 1 has different IP and previously 192.168.0.1.

So at this stage, I change bluetooth ip and change the ip back to 192.168.0.1 to my pc1.

NOW, I can share between pc 1 and 2 but not to the ppc or laptop via bluetooth (unless on the laptop I connect via wired lan not via bluetooth).

It seems that bluetooth internet sharing only use ip 192.168.0.1.

Do you guys have any suggestion on how to share internet and file using bluetooth to my laptop and ppc but at the same time, I also want to connect using wired lan to my PC 2 from PC 1.

I hope you understand my setup, if not, please let me know and I will clarify again.

Thanks for your help guys. I really really need to solve this, I already tried uninstall bluetooth, reinstall OS everything but still not working.

(note: wifi router and modem probably solve this issue but at the moment I am not going to that path yet or should I get this wifi modem router?).

Thanks in advance.

I heard you can only connect one thing on the internet on a blue tooth router at a time...so its either ppc or something else. Thats one of the reasons I have a bluetooth router and a wireless router. I could be wrong but thats just what my boyfriend tells me. He is a computer tech.

Thanks for your info Megan.

I think I agree with your boyfriend.

Bluetooth/internet connection sharing only allow to share if the ip 192.168.0.1.
So I only can choose either using bluetooth or wired lan.

Thanks.

Maybe I need to move on to WIFI but Australia still expensive to use adsl or dsl and not worth it. Need to wait till end of this year or next year until the price war begin :)

It has nothing to do with only BT or Wifi at one time. It's because the IP addresses overlap.

Is it your home network? Can you change the wired LAN to use 192.168.1.1?

If you used WIFI with the current wired LAN combination you'd still default to 192.168.0.1 and still have the same problem.

Howard,

Last time the wired lan network pc I already changed it to other number like 192.168.0.99 and the ip of bluetooth is 192.168.0.1.
But still doesn't work. (I haven't try 192.168.1.1, I will try next time)
Only sharing files/internet that using the bluetooth and my wired lan cannot sharing internet but sharing files is okay.

In my pc home network internet connection sharing information, the drop down list only appears either bluetooth sharing or lan sharing so I choose bluetooth therefore only sharing with bluetooth and my home internet connection sharing not working.

If I choose home internet sharing, my bluetooth doesn't work.

It seems that I only choose either one of them but I could be wrong or did I missing some steps?

I probably forget to mentioned something because I give up trying and sometimes it create bluetooth ip conflict so I need to reghost my pc from the beginning.

It is good if I can use both bluetooth and wired/wifi (no wifi yet for me) because my setup at home is wired between two pc in living room, laptop got wifi (or usb bluetooth), pda wifi/bluetooth but my other pc in another room doesn't connecting to anywhere therefore instead buying wifi card, I am planning to use usb bluetooth since I've still got it and the other room not using much connection or internet.

Sorry I just don't want to spend more money for something that I don't use it very much and I still have this bluetooth that I can use.

Any suggestion or comment?

Thank you for your input.

192.168.0.0 -> 192.168.0.255 represent the same network.

So 192.168.0.1 -> 192.168.0.254 would also be included :)

192.168.1.0 -> 192.168.1.255 would be a different network to 192.168.0.0 -> 192.168.0.255

Actually I've been to Melbourne a fair few times.. Beautiful city. Even saw a game at the MCG. No plans on heading there in the near future though :)

I'm sure you'll have a few hurdles to go through, but just post how far you get and we'll help you out.

Howard,

aaaggh...Still not working.

My scenario at the moment:
pc 1 (192.168.0.1) in network connection property my lan card and bluetooth appears sharing together under network bridge.

So I can share files with all wired lan pcs' and my pda (via bluetooth).
Internet connection, I can share ONLY between wired lan pc's without pda.

My pda tcp/ip setting is alright, connecting to default gateway 192.168.0.1.

oh yeah..I setup on my pda, internet via ____ (server name)under my bluetooth manager.

(by the way, I testing using bluetooth on my pda because I don't want to run back and forth to the other room hehe..)
or pda require different settings?

I can see both status network transfer on my pda and pc bluetooth.

Previously, on my pda it was asking for network login, I tried and it is okay but after I soft reset then I don't have any more connection question like before.

Probably I am confuse try here and there and mess up the settings again.

I can connect again and I can view outgoing connection on my pda again but no internet connection sharing.

--
I tried before using pc 1 192.168.1.1 and my bluetooth ip 192.168.0.1 but when I tick internet connection sharing from my isp settings, I need to choose between lan or bluetooth. So basically is the same as I mentioned in my previous few messages.

But when I setup internet connection sharing wizard, then I can choose both of them but it will create network bridge.

So there you go, I still only sharing files not shareing internet with pda and wired lan.

Would you mind telling me step by step that I need to go in setting this up?

Thank you for your help.

ok - firstly you should use either ICS or bridging. It sounds like maybe you're using both :)

On the LAN you should be using 192.168.1.x on all devices. So you have two PCs, what else is on the LAN?

Forget about the BT for now. Just get all the PCs working with the new addressing scheme.

Once that is done, you enable ICS on the PC's LAN interface and tell it to share with the BT device.

Let me know when you've got this far.

Oh...okay.

I am using bridging at the moment but I press internet connection sharing on my bluetooth but both IP LAN and bluetooth on different network: 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.1.

Anyway, I will try again at home.

Wired LAN only two PCs.

The first part is what I normally done, on my ISP, I shared ICS to LAN.

The second part, I never done it before, hm...
Okay, I will try it at home.

So the second part, I go to properties of LAN and share ICS but...wait...where do I go to enable ICS? PC LAN interface? where is it?
Is it under LAN property and there is an advance tab on the top?
(sorry my pc at work doesn't have an advance tab on the lan property, I just need to clarify).

Thanks again for your help Howard.

Yep - enable ICS on the interface that is facing the ISP. Do not enable ICS on the BT.

Howard,

These are my steps and results:
1. Enable ICS on my ISP, so ICS is tick
2. Enable ICS on my LAN, so ICS is tick
3. I check my ISP's ICS and it wasn't tick anymore

I haven't check any of the IP address information.

What should I do? should I continue? or checking out the IP address.

I read on the help file as follow:
"If you have two or more local area connections, and all of them connect to the rest of the computers on your network, you need to bridge the local area connections before you can select the connection to your home or small office network. If you choose to create a network bridge that includes all of the local area connections to your network, the bridge is automatically selected when you enable ICS."

Should I use network bridge?

Any comment/suggestion or was I missing some steps?

Thank you for all your help.
