I dropped my dell 2 times now without any case on concrete and in school(cheap hard carpet) and there wasn't even a scratch on the edges. I think it holds up alot better than my mp3( dropped once and it scratched half the paint off!)

I got really angry once, and I threw mine at a brick wall as hard as I could. It just bounced back at me. Talk about a sturdy PDA!

LOL It would have broken into like a million pieces.

I have yet dropped mine and do not plan to... Crossing my fingers while typing right now.

Well, I didn't throw it at a wall. My brother nearly crushed it though. I set it on my bed while I ran into the Laundry room. When I came back to my room my brother was jumping on my bed and he had just barely missed it right as I came in. Phew! I was gonna pound him if he broke it because I just got it 4 days earlier.

Cool

Yes! A spectacular drop at the check-in security at the Pittsburgh airport. After going thru the xray machine, I grabbed my Axim -- it slipped out of my hands and dropped at least 3 feet onto the tile floor. The battery came loose and shot one way, the Axim another, and both came to rest about 15 feet away. I grabbed up the goods, slapped in the battery and powered up. No problemo!

Hmm I scratched my axim

Yeah... so I dropped my Axim on accident onto a brick floor outdoors and it scratched the paint off the top of the Axim... anyone know of any solutions to fix the scratches (ie: paint, where I can get it... can Dell fix it, etc...)
HELP! *__*

I did drop mine, talk about a sick feeling, from about 4 ft. It landed on the floor. It did act a bit wonky at first and I had to do a soft reset. Since then there has been no problems.

phew...:crooked:

The PDA angels are out there

Yes, I have dropped mine. I was at work and accidentaly dropped mine off of a table onto the cement floor. It landed smack flat on the screen side. I sat there mouth open, heart racing, and a bead of sweat began to flow down my forhead. I picked it up and That Beautiful Piece of Technology was still perfect. that was about 3 weeks ago and I have not seen any problems with it.

Cool

Well after reading this thread, I am now in the process of designing a “The Pocket Chain”….. It’s like one of those pocket watches, a chain that attaches to beloved Axim and it clips on to your belt buckle… Currently I have how many potential customers?……..

I droped mine once, just this last Sunday. was getting out of the car and my jacket caught the door and then flipped the Axim out onto the pavement at the Mall. it was like in the movies in slow motion saying many colorful words as it frame by frame headed to the pavement, wet pavement to boot! Luckably I always have it in the Dell optional Leather padded case. not one bit of damage. but if it had not been in the case I am convinced it would have been my favorite coaster. I am sewing a wrist strap on the case to help prevent any more short films.

i'm proud to say this is the most durable unit i've ever used. my axim takes dives on a regular basis. it is frequently slung into the backseat of my car, tossed onto the desk at home, lobbed from the desk of one soon-to-be dell owner to another at work as i spread the word of axim. i once had my axim in the pocket of a pair of cargo pants and it went into a burning building with me! i'm a volunteer firefighter and donned my fire gear right over top my cargo's and the axim came through like a trooper!

the fact that it can take all this abuse is kind of ironic considering one of the major reasons i purchased my axim was to replace my battered and bruised handspring visor edge! yes, i put my device through a lot, but my axim has withstood some of the toughest tests i've put it through!

I see my hubby hasn't posted his spectacular spill, so I will....

We just received our long-awaited metal cases from Innopocket on Monday. The cases are a little slippery when they are new, and his slipped out of his hand and hit the carpeted floor, and then bounced merrily down an entire flight of stairs, coming to rest on the hardwood entry (underneath which is concrete), with the case's little metal door (which flew open in mid-tumble) open and bent.

The results? A slightly bent door on the metal case (which was bent back with little noticeable fit problems), and nothing else. Everything works perfectly!

Of course, no PDA of MINE has never fallen out of my carpal-tunnel ravaged hands......<ha ha ha>

Well, I purposely dropped my Axim quite a few times when I first got it. I was checking if it really is as durable as Dell claims.

I do have the Xw9, so you might wany to upgrade before you go tossing your Axim around like I do!

Check out the description of the Xw9 (thread 3896):
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...ighlight=dream

We use it for hackie sac at lunch, I set the alarm to know when we have to be back at work.
