Arrow Me and my Axim, one month on [Long & boring :-) ]

Well I joined this forum 1 Month (and 3 days) ago. Where am I now with my Axim?

Total Posts: 42 (1.25 posts per day)

That makes me feel special! So this is a celebratory post.

I read my first eBook, Terry Pratchetts Pyramids. It is funny because it talks about Greece and Egyptian trading. I have the HHGTTG comics on my PDA, but haven't read them.

I listen to MP3's, and watch Seinfeld, and also have watched Trainspotting on my PocketPC. I think the Matrix is next :D

My favourite apps:

uBook
BetaPlayer
ftxPBrowser
PocketRAR

I installed a today screen manager, and uninstalled it. I installed Adobe PDF, and uninstalled it.

I have also installed:

BibleReader
Binary Clock (which adds itself automatically to start menu, even if I already had 7 items!)
Console
jShell
Foldable Keyboard
ftxPBrowser
lgtEditor
Metro
Orionic
Pocket Artist (demo)
Superwaba VM
Total Commander
uBook Reader
vncView
UltraShop
(and now agile messenger)

Thanks for all the tips on software guys! I would like a Picture viewer (I tried copying iPAQ pictures off my iPAQ, failed..) that can open 2MB pictures... so I can swap out my SD from my digicam and view them on my PDA...

Games
DopeWars (9 million odd is my score!!)
Hot Death Uno (reminds me of college)
Porta-Pinball (with excl. demon skin)
Reflect It2 (baaah, tis ok)
Space Trader (tis ok, I asked Braben for FE2FE for PPC!!!)
Quake 1 (completed demo)
Quake 2 (completed 2 small bits)

Also a neat 3D demo of a flight simulator... very alpha.

I installed the power toys, and even found them productive, I can see the screen of my axim on my PC, or remote admin to a client machine, and see their axim, if they just run a sync.

Condition:

Screen has some microscratches (after one month ), that are not visible until you really try and get the light on it at a wierd angle. No protector, but I am thinking about one. I would preffer one that wrapped around and moulded into the screen space, rather than overlayed. I guess watching movies, reading ebooks, listening to music, I don't even need a stylus.

Of course I also browse the web at times but generally if I want to I am at my desk, I save the page, and copy it.

I WiFi sync, which is dandy. It is possible, the trick is to create a standrd partnership first via usb, then setup your PC's activesync to allow remote connections, then your PDA to connect to you PC (in the drop down). Be careful next time you sync to a diff PC, there is an option to keep or remove your old settings.

:exc: The boring bits :exc:
Settings:

Total: 63.41 MB
Storage
Allocated: 30.98 MB
In use: 13.93 MB
Free: 17.05 MB
Program
Allocated: 32.43 MB
In use: 16.41 MB
Free: 16.02 MB

Current storage card has 219.27 MB free (swapped it out)

Running:

Pocket Artist
File Explorer
lgtEditor
ActiveSync
uBook
Total Commander

---------

That is it! I think we should start a freeware announcement forum, ala Freshmeat, where free/open source/free beer software can be spammed :-) Thanks for all your :approve:

wow, i feel like i'm not pushing mine to it's potential capabilities - then again, i'm waiting for Dell to send me a replacement since this one is defective. When it gets here, if it works ok, i'll come back here. You seem to have a good list for ideas for me.

Picture viewer

Best kept secret of the Dell CD - it comes with a FREE version of Resco Picture Viewer. While many of the applications on the Dell CD are merely trials, or links to buy the product, the Dell CD includes Resco Picture Viewer.

Good Luck.
