How can I...?

When I turn on my Axim X3i I continously get the little speaking window saying that I cannot connect to the internet b/c I don't have a modem set up yet. All this I know, b/c I haven't set up a modem for my handheld. But it's getting a little annoying seeing that little pop-up window...(it's in the same type of "talking window" when you tap the time and it shows your "time and next appointment" for example). Has anyone experienced this w/ their axim X3i or X3 or X5 or X30 or "X3 million?"

James

no, there really isn't an X3million, but that would be "hella cool" tho, wouldn't it?

Your inbox is probably checking for new emails, usually is set to check every 5 minutes. You need to turn it off. Or it could be trying to connect to active sync which will check every 5 minutes or so. Used to have x3i but i can't remeber what steps to do it as WM2003SE has got me turned up side down. This should give you some idea of what to look for those, so just browse around in your x3i.

Good luck.

Open ActiveSync - under file, select connection settings - UNCHECK the box marked 'allow network and RAS connections'...

Nope that didn't work... I couldn't fix it by going through active sync! I don't think I have a journal bar, how can that help me get rid of that little "talking" box.

it can't help. but it might have been the cause, if you had it.

It was causing mine to do the same thing. then i changed a setting in the program, and it stopped doing it.

Ok, I think I found a little thing that may be going wrong w/ this that may be causing this. I think my ppc keeps trying to connect to the internet. I put in a "fake" connection profile, and everytime maybe every five minutes that my handheld is on, it would try and connect... and everytime I would turn my ppc on it would be trying to connect. I want it to stop trying to connect, it slows me down when I need to enter a quick note, when I have to get rid of that little "speaking" bubble.

Does this help?

Up above you said 'it didn't work' and I'm assuming you are talking about ActiveSync. Do you have an email account set up on the Axim and, if so, did you check HighTymes' suggestion about the automatic mail downloads?
