Freeing up that last bit of memory

I'm overly obsessive about making sure i have as much 'program' memory as possible on my axim. Already installed almost all of my apps (save pocketplus, pocket informant, and agile messenger) to my SD card, and i run pocket mechanic after every browsing session. Today though i found something new. Hundreds of KB of useless help files in /Windows!!!

Just go into /windows and sort by size. You can pretty much delete every single html file in there if you already know how to use the app.

I havent done it yet, but there are also a lot of images in .2bp format that are the 'help' images for your applications. For instance, resco audio recorder has about 170KB of 'help' images.

Maybe straight up deleting these files is possibly a bad idea (worst thing that can happen is have to restore :) ), so probably its a better idea to replace them with 0kb files w/ the same names.

I've got it down to just 13MB of storage ram being used on the axim.

Hope that helps out all others that are as obsessed w/ freeing space as me.

i just use a 64mb sd card that i leave in all the time, makes things easier and no space issues :)

plus you can get a bigger card if you want

and of course you can take it out when you need to (say to listen to songs on another sd card)

I have a 256mb sd card that all my apps are installed onto.. Like I said.. I'm overly obsessive about free ram...

I tend to leave a lot of things running, like a few windows of pocket ie, email, calendar, pocket weather, etc etc... so i tell myself i like to have as much ram as possible free for whenever i want to play space trader.

Windows folder

I've been using Memaid to delete stuff and find that I have over 770 files at the bottom of the Windows folder "tree". Guys on here recommend not interfering with those files....what do you do with these items that build up in the Windows folder?

Cheers
