Does anyone have any tips for installing a
brando screen protector? I remember
installing one about a year ago on my
Sony PDA, and all I remember is it took me
over 2 hours to be happy with it! applying
removing, washing, reapplying....
Some tips would be nice! ..
I am thinking about wetting down my shower
and installing it in there..... (dust free ?)

Just remember not to remove backing all the way. Just expose a little bit on top, enough to get the alignment. Then slowly remove the backing as you apply the screen protector...
If you mess up the first time (your backing is gone now), try sticking a few strips of scotch tapes on the sticky side, overlapping each other and leaving extra on top, then remove the strips as you re-apply.
I just received my Brando Protector this evening in the mail. I ordered it on 3/8/03 and received it 3/13/03. I was very satisfied with the ordering process from ExecutivePDA.com and the shipping.
I cleaned the Axim screen with a dust free cloth and no cleaner other then fogging it with my breath. Then I peeled back a third of the backing. Attached it to the top of my screen and peeled off the rest of the backing while applying it to the screen. I kept a 60 degree bend in the protector as it went on to force the air bubbles out as it applied. I had one very small bubble near the left side that pushed out with a slight rubbing pressure.
Took all of two minutes from the time I started opening the package until I had it applied.
So far I am very satisfied with how it looks and feels. I had worried it might darken the screen but it is so slight it's impossible to say how much. After turning it off and on a few times, if I wasn't the one that put it on I would have a hard time telling you there was a protector on it.
I strongly endorse this product for it's ease of application and the way it looks, feels, and how the Axim responds while having it in place. I went a week without using one and although I like the feel of the slick glass surface, this is not a problem and I feel much safer knowing I won't pick up a piece of dirt on my stylus and scratch the screen.
If I have any problems or concerns in the future I'll post them here.
I am glad your proccess went easier then mine..
it took me nearly an hour and removing it and
reapplying it, and im still not completely happy
but thats just my job.. the screen protector
itself if clearly the best out there.. even through
all the work i have to go through applying it
i still love it.... its the best.. I just need to get
my technique down!..

I too struggled to get the Brando in place. I still have some "lifting" in the corners (invisible when the device is turned on). Overall I'm very pleased. The surface is a delight to write on.
As for tips, if the fit/placement is not up to your liking use scotch tape to pull the protector from the screen. The fit is so snug on the edges there is no real way to get under it.
I installed by first getting it to fit properly over the screen. I then lifted the corner back up with tape and using more tape removed the dust on the back and screen for the top half. Smooth top half back on. More tape to lift bottom half and tape to remove any other dust on back and screen on bottom half smooth back down. I'm picky took me 10mins as I lifted and taped a couple time to remove all those annoying dust particles.
You know ever since handheld devices such as the Axim have been out, users have wanted to maximize it life by using screen protectors. So why is it not one manufacture that I am aware of has really ever confronted this dilemma? I guess why do they not make a screen protector built in? It could be replaceable by say a snap on screen frame. It seems like a good 90% of PDA users use a screen protector.
I had purchased the Dell Screen Protectors. While I am happy with the feel of the stylus, and its ability to, well protect. I am still not totally happy with it. It is just smaller enough than the screen that it moves around a bit, and if you read other posts on the Dell protectors, it gets these little honeycomb effect from the protector adhering to the screen around very small holes in the protector surface.
I am going to try out the Brando protectors and see if I like them better. You know I have spent a good $75 on screen protectors in the last few months. All in quest of finding one that does not drive me bonkers! The fellow’s brand that is everywhere is absolute crap. Saranwrap would work better.
I hope the Brando is my last one for a while. Like I said why do they not install these things at the factory? I would gladly the added cost.
hehe.. i can probably say i have the most painless (and effortless) experience with installing my brando screen protector- the nice lady at the shop put it in perfectly for me, after using a professional-looking kit to clean up my screen.
now THATs service for you =)

Yes this is the only 'problem' I had with the Dell protectors, and I had to remove the protector a couple of times, wipe the underside, even wash it once, installing it upside down (not inside out) to how I initially installed it before the problem went away.:)
I also tried the Fellowes first and what a piece of junk. Can't believe I spent almost $20.00 for that. Went ahead and bought the Brando and what a difference! I first tried installing from top to bottom but after a few tries I installed it from side to side and viola - perfect fit. Installed perfectly with no lifting on the edges or corners. Next time install it from side to side.
I recived my Brando protector yesterday in the mail. I had it on the screen with in like 30 secs. it is clear not lint no smuges not AIR BUBBLES! it is great. I dont have any complaints for once. I cant even tell it is on there. I am sold.

I have a Brando screen protector and noticed a little dust particle under it. I've been scared to pull it off (actually how do you pull it off?) and wash it.
What's the best way to pull the protector off and what is the best way to clean it once it's off.
I read something about a hair dryer before, but I don't have enough hair for a hair dryer.
Any help would be awesome.
Thanks
i have trouble with the brando on the edges. You cant notice it when the device is on but under sunlight you can.. you can pull it off and on again turtlethegreat. its like saran wrap so pull it off and wash it, let it dry and reapply. or you can use scotch tape to pickup the dust
