ppc explorer help
I really would think that this has been answered before. However, when I search I get like 500 threads... no matter how I phrase my question and as much as I learn a lot from reading them I really wanna know. Plus, I'm a noob to Aximsite and if I only search I don't make many friends here!
Does anyone know how to make a regular website fit in the PPC explorer... or does the website have to be in PPC format? (IE: when I explore Aximsite from my PPC or Google they fit perfect! )
I'm working on a project... and this would be of great help...
Ultimately, working a way to get Gigabytes (200GB so far) of MP3's and vids to play on my ppc....... playing them in the car or around my house (love mobility....) :approve: Once I get it pinned down... and I am close I will share with the community!
thanks for your support.

only sites that have been optimized for mobile units like aximsite and google. will fit into your explorer. really the best you can do is get a third party app that will optimize the pages for you.. like thunderhawk or netfront

Actually, there are alternative browsers to PIE that support "Fitting" websites onto the PPC through reformatting.
I prefer and use Netfront with its "SmartFit" option, but there are others: (MultiIE, PocketPIEPlus)
There are also subscription services that perform formatting functions:
Webxcope, MobileLeap, Skweezer, Thunderhawk

Have a look at the links found @ the Pocket PC Developer Network for information on web development for PPC's.

It's been a few years, but when in college I took a HTML class (when HTML wasn't as well known yet). One of the assignments was to make our class webpage's mobile ready. I believe that all we did was add some code, maybe a style sheet. Let me see if I can find the project and I'll get back to you.

Several ways to do this, ReenSoft's PIE Plus ( http://www.reensoft.com/PIEPlus/ ), MultiIE, my favorite ( http://www.multiie.info/ . Both are way less expensive than Netfront or Thunderhawk. Also take a look at Skweezer, an online service(about $15 a year), they give a 30 day trial and it does a lot beside get stuff where you can read it without scrolling horizonally ( http://www.greenlightwireless.net/skweezer/ ). There are others but these are the best for minimal cost and maybe MultiIE is the best over all. Do a search here on aximsite.com for each, google them and download the trials and try them. Don't get in a big hurry, most of the trials last at least 15 days, some 30. Try them all and make up your own mind, it cheaper to find one that answers your problems than taking any of our words for it. Have fun and WELCOME to aximsite.com :approve:

In addition, you could check out http://www.webxcope.com from your desktop browser and test drive how it works against different size display areas as well as learning how to do your own customization. It
allows you to delay images, controlling how tables laid out (or removing tables), limiting content size, changing display area .... Sometimes, I think it might be overkill to have so many options for users. Well, all this
is for free. Don't have a clue what their business model is.

Style sheets are totally the way to go with something like this. You can have a different style sheet that loads/formats differently depending on the client, it's pretty sweet. Check out the CSS Zen Garden [ http://csszengarden.com/] for some sweet examples of the power of CSS.
As a reference, I highly recommend "Cascading Style Sheets: The Definitive Guide" by Eric A. Meyer, published by O'Reilly. I'm about halfway through it, and it's great. [ http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...ooks&n=507846]
