Ok I can make it download the new messages but for some reason the out-going messages are not being sent. Any reasons why? I followed everything. I am still getting that message that says it cannot download the messages (but it is).
Thanks for all your help!

All I can say is, that originally I made a typo - which was corrected by going through this thread (post #1) step by step.
So I can only recommend you to go through the mail setup very careful again.
Pay attention to the smpt server info, the ssl and the outgoing mail authenticity.
My Gmail account was working absolutely fine on the native PPC email client and on WebIS Mail 2. I recently changed my Gmail password and since then no matter what I do, I can't access that account on my PPC. It just won't go past authorization. Yes, I've changed incoming/outgoing password to the new one I have right now (verified and re-verified) and POP is enabled in my Gmail account.
Just to check if I'm doing everything right, I created a new Gmail account and went through the same setup process on the native and WebIS Mail client. Behold! Everything works fine! I just can't access my primary Gmail account after changing my password.
Anybody got a clue?
A co-worker had the EXACT same issue.
We spent hours on double checking the entries.
Afterwards he did a gmail help search and found the answer (well for him anyway, and very likely will fix yours also)
Go to your gmail web page, click on the settings (top right next to your gmail email address).
Then click forwarding and POP Settings (In orange area)
There is an area = POP Download - Make sure the "Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on" radio button is clicked-on
Has anyone been having problems of emails being redownloaded even though they have already been read on both the pda and the gmail site? For example, this morning I woke to my pda having re-downloaded all of the messages I had already read since I set it up. Anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks to this guide, I have been able to send and receive emails now. It should be noted however that the username should be xxx@gmail.com instead of xxx alone.
My problem is, the emails I have downloaded disappeared the next time I click send/receive. How could I keep them in the axim?
I tried to do what you said but I keep getting the incoming E-mail Password page every time. The X51 keeps trying to connect but to no avail. What can I do now? I’ve never had to set up an e-mail on outlook. I’d like to use the outlook but don’t have a clue. I did use some other advice on this sire. Thanks for the help and thanks for being here for the newbe.
Hey howdy hey:
I'm a soldier in the Al Anbar province of Iraq. For whatever reason the Marine Corps server I'm using will allow me access to aximsite, but won't download the imbedded pictures in the tutorial. Could you post a text version for the pictorially impaired?
BEFORE YOU START BE SURE YOU HAVE POP3 ENABLED IN YOUR GMAIL SETTINGS
1. First enter the program messages on your PPC
2.Now Tap the accounts button, and then hit New Account,
Enter your email and tap next
3. Enter whatever name you want for the 'Your Name' field, doesnt matter, for me i just typed my initials,
Next enter your gmail user ID.
Next enter your gmail password and select 'save password unless you want to type it everytime you send/recieve messages.
Now hit Next.
4. Now on this screen select POP3 for the account type. And name the account, i just left mine named POP3.
Now hit Next.
5. Here is where you enter the Server info for gmail, !!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!!, you CANT mess this part up. Must be just like shown.
After you enter this info, select options.
6. here is your first options screen
make your screen look like this
7. On this second options screen, check all things i have checked.
I have checked 'use seperate settings', If you check this box you must click outgoing settings and enter your gmail user name and password again. But just make sure you check the 'SSL' connection and 'outgoing mail requires authentication checked'.
Now select next.
8. Here is the Outgoing Settings Window, just enter your gmail username and password, and check SSL.
9. On the last screen you can choose how much of message you want to recieve, i chose recieve all because i get lots of pictures in my email.
Hope this helps some of You all having trouble.
Thanks to DSmithZ28 for the capture screen software link and helping me with the Remote PPC software.
