Anyone have a solution for this? I have the same problem - when I send/receive, the emails arrive, but if I send/receive again, the inbox empties itself and the messages are gone.

I have an Axim X5.

cheers!

Okay, I'm an old Beta tester, so I love these kinds of challenges. I had the same problem of continuously being asked for ID and PW. Yes, gmail's POP3 settings were set, and I had a test outgoing message to myself ready to go. Here is what I did, step by step, and now all works well.

1. Set gmail to, "Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on."
2. Connect and send myself the email.
3. Changed gmail to, "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)" and also selected, "archieve Gmail's copy."

The key here, and one that I have successfully tested time and again, is that you cannot have "trash gmail's copy" selected nor "keep Gmail's copy in the inbox" for mail handling options. If you do, it will not DL your new mail.

Presumably it would also work for initial settings if you had the "enable POP for all mail" set and also "archieve Gmail's copy", as the archieve option seems to be the trouble maker. However, since mine is now working, I can no longer test that theory.

I am using the port settings (some say it is necessary, others say no), but using the Mozilla setting (I've proudly never used Outlook) for outbound of 587 vs the suggest 465. Per gmail, both work.

Hope this helps some of those with the mysterious problems.

Help!

I followed the tutorial exactly, but I still get this error message:

"Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your-email account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again."

I've enabled POP on my Gmail settings.

Help Please!

Same here but with a different error message.

"Unable to connect to connect to the incoming mail server. Verify that the server name is correct, then try again to send and receive mail."

Suggestions anyone?

gmail setup

Just wondering why the email setup in my X30 is different than yours. Looking at the screenshot of the email options (2/3) page, your screenshot shows the extra options of configuring the incoming and outgoing mail servers seperately. For some reason , my "Inbox" setup program doesn't allow me to do this.

I was just reading this by chance and i have to say that those added port numbers of 995 on the incoming and the 465 on the outgoing aren't necessary.
I just set my account the exact same without the port numbers and i haven't had a single problem. I'm on an X50 but haven't done the A05 update. Still on A03. That shouldn't make a difference, should it?

I am ready to give up!

I have tried to set up my gmail on my Axim x50 step by step, and I am able to send and receive emails, but when I read the email, the next time I try logging in, the copy is gone. Is there any way to keep the copy on my Axim?

Thanks,

Thanks for the great set up guide. I am trying to get my X51v to check my googlemail acccount. Everytime I try it comes up with the incoming E-mail password screen. I have put the password but then it messages can not be downloaded. Is there a separate password to download messages? I don't see why there should!

Thanks in advance for any clues on how to sure this. Maybe it is a WM5 issue, but I can get the device to check other accounts OK.

On this screen, try 'Work' instead of 'The Internet' if you're having problems. My x51v default connection is 'Work' after a hard reset.
