Question Regedit Hack - What will this one do

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this. I found a hack to move Destinator form Main Memory to BIS or storage and this hack was at the bottom. Can someone that understands this explain what exaclty will happen if this hack is used. Thanks

1. Go Start --> Settings--> Memory drag the slider to Storage leaving more Free memory to Programs

2. Go Start -> Settings -> System -> Utility -> Smart Battery -> and choose High Performance

3. run again registry editor HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\ change the value of 'limit' from 8192 to 32768

4. Soft Reset

1. Will allocate more memory to running programmes rather than storing them.

2. Appears to be a setting to change the power manageemnt settings of the battery. My guess is that it increases battery useage

3. Will allow graphics to load faster. The Glyph adjustment has been discussed on the site a few times. It is normally associated with rendering pages faster in PIE. Do a search for "Glyph" on this site. Memmaid and other utility programmes also allow you to adjust this setting.

Per Wooch :approve: - This is an area of Main Memory that is dedicated to holding graphics information so it need not be re-rendered when displayed. This especially comes in handy if you have alot of icons in your start - Programs folder. It also helps with the rendering of PIE pages.

4. Just restarts your Axim so that the above change is enacted (but you knew that didn't you).

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Has anyone actually tried this to see how well it works?

4. Soft Reset

Font cache size:
Pro:
Programs start a little faster.
Faster soft reset.
Faster program switch.

Con:
You are specifying that the font can use up to 32MB of RAM (and I mean RAM) if needed.

This is the reason why it's set at 8MB from the factory, older version of Axim had it at 32MB.

Is this the max that the glyph on an x50v running WM5 can be adjusted for the glyph?

3. run again registry editor HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\ change the value of 'limit' from 8192 to 32768
