I am looking to get a pda that doubles as a voice recorder to record my lectures at school. Does anyone know if the X30 can record files of that length and with a good enough quality to pick up what is said in the lecture hall? Thanks
Try a search of the forums here for information about a program called NoteM. You can Google it, too.
The search function on this Web site is towards the top in the middle.
Any PPC will record with similar results, but you'd likely want to consider adding a storage card if you want to record lectures of much length. NoteM will allow you to store to a storage card
Some other thoughts with Note M. Don't record in Stereo, and try recording at the highest quality you possibly can. I've been pretty happy this way, and then NoteM works with any Axim. The stereo feature seemed to mess up my recording attempts on X5 and X3 units.
Pocket PC Magazine really thought NoteM was the cat's meow. And it's free. So why ever pay a cent for something else?
NoteM is really great at MP3 recording. For low-speed voice recording (especially with VAS), the Resco app may prove better (and more reliable), though.
Depends on your PDA. Resco generally consumes more power than NoteM. Therefore, you can hardly recrd a 6-hour school day with Resco with a, say, iPAQ 2210; unlike with NoteM.
