Well, I know that the x50v has 64 megs of ram, but only about 36MB of mine is free. How can I free up most of the rest? I only have a couple apps installed to main mem, including betaplayer. I put everything else in BIS or Storage card. Thnx
BetaPlayer (TCPMP) works fine from BIS. That will save you some.

yeah i have Pocket Cleaner plus to take care of temp files. I'll go ahead and install betaplayer to BIS also. Is odessy client worth keeping around? I never use it

Actually, I think you'll find two copies in main mem. You can get rid of one by replacing it with the equivalent of a 1k text file. (It's the one in Program Files>Funk Software > Odessey Client). If you don't replace it with a file that Windows believes is the original exe file, a soft reset causes the file to return (and take up over 2M of mem).

(Assuming my memory is correct on all this.)
How do I go about doing this? by making a shortcut to the other file? Also, is it okay to delete the stuff in the Windows/Profiles/Guest etc. directory?

I simply created a "blank" text file and renamed it odclientce.exe. Then copied it to the folder I mentioned in my earlier post. You still should have a copy of the odclientce.exe in the Windows folder. I'd check to make sure that this is the case before getting rid of the first. In fact, I think I made a copy of the file and put it on my 1G SD just to be safe. :approve:
well, it worked(thanks!), but unfortunately you were right about Windows replacing the original executable on a reset. Is there any known workaround for this? Any other RAM-saving tips would be appreciated. It sounds like some people have more than 40MB free. How are they accomplishing this?

I don't know how to get rid of both. I suspect there isn't a way.
I have about 43M in main memory. The only things I put there are drivers that absolutely have to be there (and anything else put there by necessity by installers)
Surely - the dummy odclientce.exe is only replaced with the original during a hard-reset. I replaced my program files/funk/odclientce.exe with the blank text file (1kbyte file, renamed as odclientce.exe) and it stays that way after soft resets (and I do a lot of soft restes!).

There are two files you can replace - one in program files, one in the Windows directory. I've replaced both with dummies, and they both 'stick' even after soft reset.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that everything that gets replaced on a hard reset is in ROM and therefore deleting it just makes windows believe it's not there - it doesn't actually free up any memory.
hmm, i only have 10 mb free, have like nothing installed to the main memory, have no programs running. Any ideas? Is Uptime Monitor(battery meter) known to use lots of memory? thanks in advance!
