Temp Uninstall

How do you save an app to desktop, in case you want to re-install? Wasn't there a tutorial or post on this? Can't find it. Thanx.

If it is a program that was installed through ActiveSync, it's already on the PC (it will be in ActiveSync on the PC in a list under Tools, Add/Remove Programs...). If it was installed via a cab file, just keep a copy of the cab.

But if I uninstall thru AS, won't it be gone? What I'm trying to do is remove Pocket+ to try something in it's place and I'm not sure I really want to give it up. Someone said put a copy on the desktop and I didn't know if I could just drag&drop from explore in AS or just what was "proper". Thanx for answering by the way.

Use the Remove Programs from the PPC's Settings page or uncheck the box in the path I described above. Both remove it from the PPC without affecting the PC's option to recheck the box to reinstall it. If there is a registration number, you'll need to reenter it on the Axim when you reinstall.

The other option is to make a backup of the PPC before uninstalling (either in AS, or the on the Dell itself, or with some third party software such as Sprite. Preferably at least two of these). [Note: making a backup before adding a new program is always a good idea.] Then you can restore from the backup to return to the current point.

Edit: Remember, this only works if the original installation was through AS. If you used a cab, it is not on the PC.
