Dell Selling Samsung Q1
This is interesting in light of Dell's move away from PDAs. Carrypad says that Dell is now selling Samsung's Q1 UMPC in the US. See article here.

Dell may be moving away from PDA's but the UMPC has nothing to do with the PDA.
Apples and Oranges.

Actually I'm pretty sure that Dell would sell Apples and Oranges if it could set up a supply chain and assure a decent profit margin.

And didn't they used to Sell Palms anyway?

(and congrats on 1000 posts, and the 'New' title )

Remind me not to go to the fruit market with you!

Considering the fact that both devices are considered "mobile" (debatable in the case of UMPC) I'm not so sure I would agree with your analogy.

I should clarify: My comments are related to discussions elsewhere regarding the direction that Dell might go after announcing that they were not going to market Dell branded pdas. Discussion was about whether they might move to either UMPC or smartphones.

I agree with psionandy!

Interesting... does this mean that Dell is going to abandon their own "evolution" UMPC, or will this just allow them to transition from Dell-branded PDA's to Dell-branded UMPC's?

I agree with psionandy!
They are completely different devices. Hence the Apples & Oranges.
A notebook is portable, but cannot be compared to a PPC.
The same goes for the UMPC and the PPC.

And I also agree with psionandy!
