PDA with qwerty input?
I think this is the correct forum to ask this question...

I had an Axim PDA that was stolen awhile back and now I have the itch to replace it. After living with the Axim for awhile it became clear that its primary weakness was how you input data into it... The stylus method is just terrible.

Anyway, I thought it would be easy to find some sort of PDA now with a qwerty input -- not unlike a blackberry. Boy was I was wrong!

Can anyone suggest a device that...

1) Has a qwerty input

2) Runs Windows Mobile 5 or 6 - I need to synch with an Exchange server - or maybe a full version of XP or Vista (however I don't think I want to pay $$$ for a true UMPC)

3) Is WIFI enabled

4) Can play Windows Media (files and streams)

I don't need or want cell/smart phone connectivity -- just WIFI. Again, any suggestions would be great!

(A device like the htc advantage would be just about perfect, but I don't need the cell capability or expense.)

you don't have to use the cell phone part. Any thing with the specs you describe is going to be in the 700-100 range. If you don't mind a unit running full windows you could do
this OQO model 01+ (30GB, XP Pro), #100017-US - MobilePlanet
or this Gigabyte U60 Ultra-Mobile PC (XP Home), #U60_XPHOME - MobilePlanet

I was looking for the same thing. Your best bet is getting a Cingular 8525, Tilt, Sprint PPC 6700 or one similar. Sure it has phone capabilities, but you don't have to use it as a phone.

The old ipaq model 4350 has a qwerty keyboard. It has WM2003, but you can sync it with exchange server. The only limitation is you cannot synchronize tasks, but you can sync tasks with your desktop outlook. I love my 4350. Bought it year ago (after my ax 51v) brand new on amazon. It is faster and more stable then x51v. It can do everything that axim can do (apart of VGA screen)
