Well, finally got it! I did make it appen sooner...
First impressions:
Nice unit, eavier than expected but that's ok, still lighter than a regular notebook, confortable to use, bright screen, touch screen responsive, webcam OK, sound is average (only one speaker) but you can use earphones, plenty of inputs (SdCard reader, Wifi, Bluetooth, 3 USB, VGA (cable included), Ethernet, Mic, Trackmouse, TouchScreen, Dpad, Biometric reader, A/V out.
Performance:
Do not expect to do any serious graphic stuff on this, I find it very slow, The resolution is not standard (800x400) so some software dont show correctly, you have to upsclade the resolution witch makes it a bit blurry, you can use the scroll method. The speed is decent, it's only a 900 celeron after all, plenty of ram(768meg), good HD (60gig). You can get 2 hours from it full blown, if you reduce power you can get up to 3 hours...
The goodies:
GPS integrated, now that cool! Comes with Microsoft Street and trips 2006, but I installed Iguidance witch is better IMHO, The webcam is marvelous with IM (MSN Messenger) and the integrated Mic is OK, cant use Fullduplex for obvious reason, you need to use a headset for this witch can be Bluetooth! Come also with a Usb minimouse, EasySync usb cable (witch is fantastic!).
Recommendations:
Remove as much as you can and wont use, for instance, I let windows take care of the wifi stuff, so I removed the Asus Wlan controller at statup, removed Norton Internet security crap, removed some of the startup stuff, like acrobat, etc..
Conclusion:
Nice device VERY portable, almost small enough to put in pocket, It's not designed to replace a desktop, it's a complement. This is the ultimate toy for the geek in you.
Questions?
