Tengo Thumb downloaded

My stylus broke and I didn't like the block recognizer or the other built in input options. The block recognizer requires slow input. If you write too fast it doesn't catch the correct letters. If you mistype it requires several keystrokes to move the cursor backwards.

So I've read a little about Tengo and discovered they have 2 products, Tengo keyboard and Tengo thumb. The keyboard has basically 6 buttons that you press w/your stylus. Each button has 4 or 5 letters on it. It uses autocomplete to guess what you're trying to type. Good product, but I didn't want to use a stylus. It goes for $19.95.

Then I tried Tengo thumb. Same concept as above but the buttons are big enough to use your finger. I tried to trip it up and couldn't. If you type a word that isn't in its dictionary it lets you manually spell the new word, then adds it to its dictionary. I've just downloaded it and will give it a more thorough trial, but so far I love it. This one retails for only $12.95, though I don't know why it's so much cheaper than the keyboard product.

Does anyone else have experience w/this or similar progs?

I just downloaded the trial of egular Tengo and it's great so far. I used it in a staff meeting this morning and was able to keep up just as well as when I use Transcriber and with ZERO errors. I would consistently get crazy errors using Transcriber that would drive me crazy. It's a surprisingly quick learn, but I would prefer a straight A-Z orientation of the letters as an option versis the QWERTY layout. I'm not a very proficient typist, so I occassional have to pause and look for the right letter. Of course, only having 6 keys versus 26 is nice...

Thanks for the info guys. Akheron, I knew you'd chime in on this one. I found myself typing quickly in tengo and couldn't figure out why I learned it so fast until I realized that it's set up like a regular keyboard. If you know how to type then you really can learn this quickly.

Akheron, I'll check out those 2 progs.

I'm big on MessagEase myself. I started using it with my Palm, haven't seen too many people on the PPC side using it though. It's fast, I'm up to almost 50 wpm if I get cruisin'.
There is a learning curve, but I would highly recommend it. www.exideas.com

Wow, I just downloaded tengo thumb and it is really easy to get used to. I agree that if you are a touch typist it will come really natural. Within a few minutes I was typing sentences far faster than I'd be able to with the stylus or a even a full screen keyboard.

The only problem is when you get to the end and realize it doesn't know the word. You have to backup and go letter by letter. This would become less and less of an issue because it adds words to the dictionary as it goes.

I suggest everyone give the demo a shot.

Hey guys. I´ve typed several new words and the dictionary doesn´t seem to store them. Any ideas on how to input them manually on a file or something like that?

Thanks!
