Family Birthdays?

I am trying to get all my family birthdays in Outlook so I can have those lovely reminders when the dates are getting close. Anyway, as I was entering info, I began to wonder if there is software that allows you to enter, say, the name of a mom and dad, their bdays and then their children and their bdays? Basically, I have family members that are having babies and I want to keep track of the birthdates as well as who the child belongs to. Does that make sense? I know I can enter the child's name as an Outlook contact, but that's really not what I have in mind.

Pocket breeze does that and much more. It does read from Outlook contact info.

I use outlook to enter the birthday dates into and then use the freeware today screen plugin 'birthdays' to warn me ahead of time, when birthdyas are due and how old people will be.

http://www.freewareppc.com/clock/birthdays.shtml

It works well for me.
I usually don't understand what I'm talking about, so please be kind if I don't understand you.

I know PB will put bdays on the Today screen. What I am looking for is a utility that will allow me to have a master entry for say a parent and their bday. Then I want to be able to enter the names and bdays of that person's children and also have them show up on the Today screen.

i can recommend you to use plaxo ....can find it in www.plaxo.com ..im using it for few years now and it really works ...just send updates on your contacts and and they will do it for you , then you can sync it to your PPC . which i usually do.

I reviewed the plaxo site and saw nothing of how this service helps the origianl poster's dilema of storing birthdays and anniversarys in a family tree type format instead of individual entries for each person....

I like the idea Cheryl. Hopefully someone will have something good for us to try out.

I saw in your "My PDA" section that you use PI. I realize this isnt quite the solution you were looking for, but it might work for you to enter the childs birhtday as an all day event. You could then use PI's link feature to link the event to the parents contact info.

Hope this is of some help, and good luck finding a system that works for you.

Hmm.. I never thought of that. It might do for now, I'll have to give it a try. To be honest, I don't use a lot of the cool features of software that I own - I didn't even know I could do that. Thanks for the suggestion

I enter in birthdays into WM's Calendar application and check the 'Birthdays' Category box when adding in new birthday entries (I also list the event as eg. 'Every May 2').

Will the above program work for these kind of entries? I don't have many birthdays mentioned in my contacts list as I list them the way described above.

Cheryl, I know you said your didn't want to actually put the kids name on the contact list, but I think that's the best solution to what you want.

I usually just put the kids name, and then the birthdate.

That's what I do, and it works perfectly.
