Question Resco Explorer($25) VS Total Commander & PHM RegEdit (Free)

Can someone please tell me why they chose Resco Explorer which cost $25 vs Using Total Commander & PHM Reg Editor which are both free.

What does Resco offer that TC & PHM don't?

User reports even state they are compatible with WM 5.

Help me justify spending $25, because right now it looks to me that TC & PHM will save me the money?

Thanks

I have Resco, and and personally haven't tried TC.

But, I must say $25 for the Resco well worth it. I'm pretty sure both programs can do the same, but the little things that a commercial version can provide, to me is well worth the $25.00.

Hope that helps!...

Doubt others had the issue, but after installing Total Commander I started having issues connecting to my home network wirelessly. And a few other issues. Ended up hard resetting to fix the issues. Have evertyhing installed but TC and no more issues.

The newest version of Total commander has a built in registry editor included. Like a previous post mentioned, resco may be great for anyone who hasn't tried Total Commander. If you ask me, Total Commander is the best file explorer for the PPC, including wireless network browsing, and it's free....

I own the older version of Resco Explorer. When I purchased the x51v, I downloaded the latest version and tried it. While it works, it has some things like a Today plug-in that I just do not need. I decided to try the latest version of Total Commander. TC provides ZIP/UNZIP, FTP and registry edit. I have used all of the functions extensively, and it works flawlessly. I have no problems with WI-FI or Bluetooth, so do not let that scare you.

Since Total Commander is free and there is a trial version of Resco File Explorer, try them yourself and see which you like best. Either one of these programs will do the job for you

A third alternative is Advanced Explorer. It too has a registry editor as well as networking features; however, the one thing it has that no other explorer utility has (that I know of) is a Recycle Bin.

GSFinder is also a worthy freeware alternative. It's feature packed, and looks very similar to Resco in it's interface. I keep it and TC installed in BIS, and use both at different times.

I tried TC recently. Its features are impressive. After a bit of trying I find Resco Explorer easier to use and better looking.

another vote for gsFinder+

here is another vote for gsFinder+ -- use if after resco file explorer, and there is only ONE thing i do miss: send file via bluetooth from popup menu (i'm not sure, maybe gsFinder+ can do this too if i know how to set up a proper shortcut, but i just haven't researched into it). anything else that resco can do and i actively use -- gsFinder+ can do it about as comfortably while i keep that $25.

have tried tc once but didn't like the interface and everything. just a matter of taste i believe, i'm not intending to say tc is not worth a try.

I use Advanced Explorer which is less costly than Resco and I would never be without PHM registry editor which is free. After a hard reset last weekend I couldn't find a site to download PHM because the normal one didn't work (still doesn't) and it took me until Monday to finally find a site that had the latest version available. I've tried Resco but it just has more features than I'll ever need and that's probably one reason it costs $25.

I think Resco is worth the $25 if you do a lot of work on the PPC. It's one of my most used programs. The others are good too but Resco is my favorite.

You know ... that's a good question. I have the Resco Explorer that I bought and paid for last year but, to be honest, I use Total Commander more. I'd say that unless you need something specific from the Resco one that you just stick with Total Commander.
