Run prompt...
I don't know if most of you knew this already, but if you hold the middle d-pad button and press the time in the upper-right corner of the screen for 2 seconds and release (essentially a "right click" for a menu) you will have the option to choose "Run".
I figured this worked just like the Windows run command. I know that if you type "calc" and go then it will bring up the calculator. Does anyone know other words you can type in here to bring up programs or special configuration / system utilities that could be used to tweak the OS or something? I wonder why they made it so hard to get to (the run prompt that is)...

Motivation. If a pretty poster and a cute saying are all it takes to motivate you, you probably have a very easy job. The kind robots wil be doing soon.

Does microsoft like playing hide and seek or something. Why cant they just put this under like programs or settings. At least an easier way to get to it would help. This is cool that you found it out. I wonder what else microsoft has hidden in the windows mobile os?

It does seem that you can run anything in the Windows folder using the 'ol run prompt. Funny that it is "hiddne" like that.
Has anyone else found some hidden things like this on the WM5 OS? If so, please post them.

This run command only works on applications that are in the PATH command. And by default, only the Windows folder is in the Path command. There is a link talking aobut changing PATh settings in the VGA demystified stiky thread, but I do not remember off the top of my head.
Technically, if you want to, you could add all your program folders in the PATH, and then run any of them from the Run window.

Could it have been done that way (hold button and menu-click) so it was a keyboard shortcut? Does anyone know the keyboard shortcut for it (or if one even exists)?

Hey there, like you I haven't tried it, but imagine you can, it is just that by the time you type the command, and the entire path, it would sort of defeat the simplicity of the run window. I use Calligraphy which allows you to write anywhere and build simple commands that can even be written on the today screen to run any probgram. For this purpose it is worth the price.

All I know in WM is Alt-Tab, Ctrl Q, Ctrl C, Ctrl X, Ctrl V, Ctrl B, Ctrl I, and Ctrl U on the keyboard, I have not tried the rest yet.

This little dialog has been around since the PPC2000 days. I figure that Microsoft probably didn't make it known because in the "old days", you needed to use the virtual keyboard to tap out the exe name, when it would be much easier to use File Explorer in fewer taps.
As for Alt-TAB, I don't think that's actually defined in the PPC shell (it is in Windows CE, the underlying OS, though). The reason I think this is that Alt-Tab in the emulator does absolutely nothing, but when I install my Stowaway Bluetooth Keyboard driver, it starts working. That may just be a bug in the emulator though. As for another hidden feature, press and hold the action button, tap and hold in a blank area of the taskbar (not on any words, icons, etc.), let go of the action button and drag your stylus to any control on the device (i.e. button, grid, window, etc.) and then release your stylus. You'll get a debug window showing you specific information about that window and it's parent windows.
