ActiveSync "run as" another user

Anyone figure out what would be needed to run active sync as another user?

In Win2K and XP you can do a "RUN AS" and run a program as another user. I need to figure out how to get ActiveSync to "Run As" a generic user whose profile will have the synchronization option while any user that logs on to that machine can log on with their own username but ActiveSync will still "Run As" the other user...

Point of Sale style appliciation. Basically the AXIM with a barcode scanner is used to sign out materials and when docked will upload them via activesync to a consolidation database.

The problem is that the users should not have to log in using a generic account. But I do not want to have to define the activesync for every user...

Thoughts?

I tried this really quickly on my pc...

Copy the wcecomm.exe from the program files\microsoft activesync

paste shortcut into "all users\start menu\programs\startup" folder under documents and settings... depending on OS. Worked for me.

P.S. Very cool project. How does the scanner work on the axim? How is the project overall?

Observations on the Socket CF Scanners.

1. Get Class 1 scanners. Work much better in dirty environments and also can work in more brightly lit areas.

2. You can create multiple shortcuts for the Scan executable that triggers the scanner to start scanning and then assign a differently named shortcut to each one of the hot keys to ensure that the users don't get dumped out of the scan capture application.

3. Get a camera lens cleaner with a squeeze blower to help clean the scanner orifice. Once some dust get's in there the beam becomes less accurate and will sometimes cease to scan.

4. Try scanning reflective materials at non 90 degree angles to beat the reflectivity.

The project is going great. We're on our second rev now where we are no only capturing what is going out and to who but we are now doing limit enforcement on Personal Protection Equipment. So if you exceed your allocation the transaction will be denied at the reader. You supervisor can then override this if you can justify why you are exceeding your allocation via a web page. Once this is done the crib operator will then be allowed to override the limit and you can get your over flow allotment.

Also we've moved the database we're syncing to from an Access DB on a network share to a Microsoft SQL Server Database.

Speaking of this the next application will be for the roving security patrols we have. I'll equip them with an Axim in an Otter Armor case and they will sync auto information from the premesis security system. The 'safe' tables will be in a mySQL server and the Axims will sync to them via ODBC Data Source!
