SPB Backup disappointed me.

Ok, I made a backup with SPB backup (full backup) and hard resetted.

When I restored, Activesync wont work! I deleted partnerships on PC and Ax a few times, soft resetted a few times nothing.

Any help will be greatly appreicated. I don't want to have to hard reset again.

At least you got it to perform a backup...I can't even get that far.

Are you using the latest version (1.1.1) ?

I use it everyday with no problems. I have it set to shut-off after reset on automatic backups and I run periodic full backups manually with no shut-off. It has saved me alot of time when I was trying out different apps.

I just used mine yesterday after I messed things up, it got me back up and running in les than 5 mins and everything was just as before...

I don't know about you guys but I installed the latest version 1.1.1 on my x51v, and as soon as I click "next" to get it to start backing up to SD, it freezes and nothing happens. I have to reset and restart. Does this every time.

The only issue I have with 1.1.1 is after a scheduled backup. I turn on the device and it's at the Dell logo screen for a few seconds. It seems that the "shutdown" delay after a reset isn't quite long enough. Other than that I have had no problems.

Trty restoring from the same backup a second time... This has worked for me in the past during the "beta" they had and also in the 1.0 release

So far, I have had no issues with my x50v (wm2003se). I would be talking with SPB support!

I do a daily automatic backup on my x51v with SPB Backup 1.1.1. I had to do a hard reset the other day and my restore worked perfectly.

I have noticed only one small bug in the restore process. It is odd that I even noticed it. After a restore from a backup, the installed programs list on the remove programs screen were in a different order.

No problems here. I did a restore over an existing install, and it restored me to the previous application status without any issues. It doesn't lock up when I do the backups... and it's worked pretty well. I did a second image after a hard reset and don't expect any problems this time either - Activesync worked perfectly for me too.

Sorry to hear about your Spb Back up problems. I haven't had any major problems with Spb Backup. I'm not a pro or anything; however, I do own almost all the Spb programs....Let me see if I can help:
1. Make sure you have the latest versions of Spb Backup and ActiveSync.
2. Make sure when you restore a backup after a hard reset the time and date on your Axim are correct. It won't successfully restore if the time and date are set to their default settings.
3. Lastly, if all else fails re-install Spb Backup and cross your fingers.
Give it another try. I love Spb Backup and it works great for me. I have it scheduels to backup every night when docked. So, don't give up on Spb. If you still have any problems...i guess you'll just have to email Spb tech support.

1. Do your hard reset

2. Rename your Axe to whatever, put it in the cradle, do activesync.

3. Restore from your backup

4. You should be good, mine did the same as yours until I established the acstivesync before I ran the restore.

Installed Spb Backup version 111,

After a hard reset and Restore, no activesync. Deleted partnership on PC, deleted partnership on X51v, did a soft reset on the X51v and restart on the PC, plugged the Axe into the cradle and it worked.

Will see if there is a better way.

I had installed Spb Backup early on and did extensive testing, including restores. It seemed to work.

However, I de-installed Spb Backup after having a catastrophic failure during an automated backup that corrupted the SD card. Subsequently, after reestablishing system integrity (even cleaning the registry), I downloaded and installed v1.1.1 and set it to take an automated backup one hour after the scheduled Sprite backup. This resulted in no Spb backup being taken, the icons for the Odyssey Client and for the WLAN Utility both being missing from the system tray (these reappeared after a soft reset), the Sprite Backup that was scheduled for an hour before the Spb Backup also did not run successfully (it created a zero byte backup - it had been successfully running previously). After deinstalling Spb Backup, a successful manual run of Sprite Backup was completed. Since deinstalling Spb Backup, all prior functionality has been restored. Spb tells me "We know about this bug. Unfortunatelly, it happens on some specific devices. We are working on a bugfix which will be available soon."
