Q: Sprite Backup Restore of BIS on WM2K3.2 X50V
My X50v running Windows Mobile 2003 second edition began having some hardware problems. So, I took a couple of special backups using Sprite Backup. I took one as a self-extracting .exe and the other as a normal Sprite backup file. In both of these two special backups I unchecked the box under exclusion rules to omit persistent storage and also uncheck the exclusion rules themselves. I had to use a 2GB CF card to get enough space to contain them; it thought it woulod be slightly larger than a 1GB card.
So, the questions:
I also realize that I can simply reinstall, but this seemed like a reasonable time to try out this feature of Sprite. I've done a number of hard resets and restores successfully, but those do not wipe BIS, of course. Any advice from actual experiences is welcome!

That sounds right... if you unchecked the box for persistent storage in the exclusion rules that should have backed up the BIS.

Yup, sounds right! You could just copy and paste or put it into a .zip file though...

99.99% was there. I had an oddity with email accounts; three of six had to be deleted and recreated. And I had made desktop changes in ListPro and SplashID that were regressed on the desktop after ActiveSync. I had anticipated this and previously made backup copies of those two on the desktop. I simply overlaid the regressed desktop copies with the correct copies (the backups) and ActiveSynced again to make it all better.
Update: And of course I had to re-pair BlueTooth as the SSID of the replacement Axim is different. 2nd Update: I subsequently determined that the email problem was entirely a problem at the ISP: Verizon.
