Mouse like cursor via d-pad app

See these threads on Brighthand for a nifty utility that allows you to use you ax w/out a stylus...

Thread

2nd Thread

Apparently this is the developer's Page

I tried it out, and it works as advertised.

I concur, this is a sweet utility. If you look at that second link there are a bunch of different cursors to choose from. I'd say this is a must have for every ppc user!

Hmmm... doesn't having to navigate the cursor actually slow down the PPC usage. I don't mean slowing down the PPC itself as in resources. I mean slow down that you actually have to manually guide the cursor to say a click button and click it? Isn't tapping faster/easier/more productive?

I'm going to be the idiot here....but, how'd you guys install it? I tried a few things and haven't been able to get it to work yet. The cursor appears but it won't let me move it around. I copied the .dll and .exe files to the /windows directory and it won't work. Any help would be apprecitated! Thanks a lot.

Blueflies, are you trying to use your PC's mouse to move the cursor? This program is designed to allow your Axim's D-pad to move the mouse cursor. A couple of people on the Brighthand post made this same misunderstanding.

I haven't tried this program yet, because I don't know how much I'd use it. Has anyone who's installed this program found it to be actually useful, or is it just a novelty?

OK I had to check this out. I must say it is cool. Probably not to practical, since it is slower than using the stylus..........but I will probably leave it on the AX for a while and play with it before I become tired of it.

Nice find ledpocket!!!!!!!!

Of course the stylus is faster...Still, aside from being novel the cursor has some function because it could come in handy for those times you're limited to using your Axim with one hand.

For example say your reading Avantgo and drinking a beer at the same time. You scrolled to the bottom of the story w/ the jog dial and want to go to a different story but don't want put down your frothy adult beverage to reach for the stylus for input. With the cursor and the d-pad you can do it one handed.

Another example would be using your Axim while driving, although I wouldn't recommend it.

Does anyone know if the center button on the d-pad acts as a mouse click?

I'll have to try this out when I get home. Wow, voice recognition software and a cursor all in one day!
