Excellent button remapping software

Just saw this link on pocketPCthoughts to a program that I think is truly awesome for the x51v.

http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php

Under my x50v I was running doubleLauncher and it worked OK, but on my x51v it did not allow for mapping of the left and right softkeys. The AE button plus program (follow the link) does what DoubleLauncher did and more. I love remapping the buttons and the support for single/double/triple/and long press support for each button. Here is how mine is setup and I'd be curious how others use theirs:

Button 1

Single Press: Cascading Start menu (from Wisbar)
Double Press: Switch to today screen
Long Press: Application: Total Commander (free file explorer software)

Button 2

Single Press: Left Soft Key
Double Press: Volume Down

Button 3

Single Press: Right Soft Key
Double Press: Volume Up

Button 4

Single Press: Ok/Close
Double Press: Task List
Long Press: Memory Monitor

Button 5

Single Press: Alarm Note

Button 6

Single Press: Wireless

I am slightly obsessed with one hand operation on the Axim and this program makes it nearly possible.

Does it have 'page up' and 'page down' as selections or just 'scroll up' and 'scroll down'?

Thanks

I don't see a page up/page down option. You can execute any program and do lots of stuff that the Axim doesn't even support (phone stuff, vibration, etc.) but nothing about page up/page down.

Steve, love your signature... I'm a huge White Sox fan myself.

I also have UpTime from the same author, that's a great program too.

Thanks.
I'm sticking with DoubleLauncher then.
eBooks are pain in the butt without a page up/down option.

I actually started testing this a week or so ago, as the developer for ButtonMax, hasn't even come out with a beta for WM5 yet, and keeps telling everyone it will be in a few weeks

This app works perfectly, but I found on my axim x51v, that it would have problems auto-loading after a soft reset. So I mapped a normal WM5 button, to this app, and it works perfectly. I actually went and bought it after a few days of trial. I would recommend this to anyone.

It has a few built-in commands such as closing windows, and offers up to four options per button which rocks.

So what is your button mapping? I am still trying to find the perfect mapping... Also, are you able to map button 5? I am having trouble making this button run applications.

Hey there,

I haven't touched button 5 yet, but after going through this application a bit further, one feature I do miss, is application-specific button mappigns. Other programs alter the basic button configuration depending on what application has priority, but this one does not.
At the moment, I am simply using this to allow for one-hand operation of simple tasks. But it is worth it to me.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "application-specific" button mapping. I suspect you are talking about something I noticed with this app a few days ago. When I bring up PocketPlayer, it cannot override the button mapping of AE button plus. I have written a note to the developer but haven't received a response yet.

A workaround to this is to bring up the AE button plus configuration while I am running Pocket Player. Whenever you bring up the configuration screen, it releases control of all of the buttons while it is running. It is a somewhat steppy process, but gives me control of the buttons for the one app that I really want to have control. As soon as you exit the configuration screen, it re-maps the buttons to the AE button configuration.
