remote control with timer

Hi,
I am searching for a remote control program that would enable my Axim to turn my air-conditioner on and off at a designated time. Thanks

Do you have central air or an in window unit?

I'm not sure what there is available for central air, but for an in window unit you have two options:

1) The in window unit came with a remote control that uses IR. In this case you can use one of the available remote contral programs for your Axim, such as NoviiRemote.

2) You can use x10, but this would require a CF RF soultion.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Well, about the IR port of the axim... it's quite weak, you know... To operate my TV with it I have to be like at least 5 feet near it, and it has a 3 seconds lag. The program I use, TV remote controller, has a learning function you could use to teach it the IR signals of your Air Condittioning system. The program has a programmable Timer function you could use to tell your AC System when to turn on and off, if you manage, of course, to have the pda near enough...
(Guess who's back...)

Wouldn't it be easier to get one of those outlet timers and plug your AC into that?

Due to the poor range of the IR port, it would be much more effective to aim the on/off switch with ping-pong balls...

I've found my IR port works reasonably well. I can get my TV to work with my ppc from about 15 feet away as long as you aim it relatively close to wherever the tv IR reciever is. Also I am evperiencing only about a half second lag when controlling anything through IR. Could this be the program you are using or the TV you are using?
Life is not measured by how many breaths you take, but by how many times your breath is taken away.

Really? what program do you use? The x50v and the x51v have the same IR port, right?

I also have good results with IR range. Using Total Remote I can control devices 15+ feet. Back to the question, I am looking at doing similar controls in my house and I am going to go X10 route with IR blasters then can set timers or use wifi to remote access PC to control all X10 devices.
