Data Backup on X51V

Has anyone had problems with backing up data on the program that came with the X51V? It seems the program that was installed on the X51V initially goes through its motions and then asks you if you want to close all open programs. When you click, "OK," the pda disconnects from Activesync. I have tried this several times, all with the same results.

Only used it twice so far, but noticed it sits like it's stuck for several seconds, but does eventually start doing its thing. Very slow compared to Sprite Backup.

Lots of talk scattered around about backing up before the A12 ROM upgrade, especially about Sprite Backups inability to restore to the new ROM.

Perhaps it might be useful to collect some of that knowledge in a separate thread... like here....

What backup software are you using with your old ROM??
Did it make it through the upgrade?
What backup software will you use with A12?

Axim x51v 624 MHz
Ram 64 MB, Rom 256 MB, SD Card 1 GB, CF Card 1 GB
ROM Version A12
Widcomm Bluetooth Stack
Jabra BT180 Bluetooth Headset (works great with Widcomm)

Yes; used both the Dell app and SPB backup. The thing is, after the upgrade Active Sync will restore your data from Outlook. SPB and Sprite will try to restore applications, which is not recommended and probably not work after doing a ROM upgrade, like A06 to A12. When the Dell backup app disconnects from active sync, it's creating a file on your Axim (hopefully a SD/CF card) and backs up the same data that Outlook/AS already has.

I have seen a few posts about people having success with sprite using the rom update mode but have not seen people who were not successfull. Can you be more specific on the failures? I haven't tried this yet since i have the x50v with wm5 and there have been no upgrades yet but it would be worth a shot. Maybe those who can't get it working are not using the latest sprite version and ROM upgrade mode?
