Aximsitex50icon Anyone know of a good Multibutton app?

Anyone know of a good multibutton app? I've tried ButtonMax and I love it, but after a few days of use (even though it's registered) it just quits working. I've also tried Vito Button Mapper. Problem with that program is it takes so long for programs to start up after you press a button. Kind of detracts from the usability. Any suggestions?

I know. Both too expensive, too. There was freeware, SingleButton, on the Palm platform. If you find something PM me.

ButtonMax 2.2 with support for WM5 is not out yet. Vito ButtonMapper 3.9 is WM5 compatible, but it's quite buggy/totally useless on my machine (can't even assign the second function to each button - it just doesn't appear as it does on the screenshots for the program). It works fine after a hard-reset, so it's conflicting with one of my programs. But as all my currently installed programs are essential, I'll pass on Vito.

DoubleLauncher seems to have the most assignment for each button - 4 (single, press-n-hold, double, double press-n-hold), whereas Vito has 2 (single, press-n-hold) and ButtonMax has 3 (single, double, press-n-hold). Does DoubleLauncher work on WM5?

Edit: Vito is able to assign button assignments for each button for each application separately - at least according to their website - I never got it to work, so I'm not sure. But that sounds useful for programs that don't override the default button assignments. Not sure if ButtonMax can do this - on their website they state "Define upto 28 actions per application, including opening another application, opening documents and quick access to many System settings".

I'm looking at Double Launch now. Looks promising. So far, I can't say that I've been impressed with any of the Vito software. It never seems to work the way it's supposed to. I kind of wish SPB would come out with a button mapper. I've always had Great success with their software.

AE Button Plus works great for me, and it is free if you don't mind a nag screen every once in a while.

Cheers

I've tried Vito Button Mapper. It was too slow when holding down a button to activate a program.

Looks like a good little program. I like it so much that I'd be tempted to purchase it if they accepted PayPal.

Ultimately, my heart belongs to buttonMax. I can't wait till they come out with the WM5 support. To me, this was the best button management app. Until then, hopefully someone will be kind enough to maybe send a full copy of DoubleLauncher. As for Vito Button Mapper: what about it?

Until now I've managed with single assignments - except that I sometimes have to reassign a button for screen capture - temporarily

So, I'm just curious
