Aximsitewifiicon Sony Location free on Axim x51v

Has anyone try to run Sony location free tv on their Axim x51v? Or any other wifi tv setup like Slingbox? With football season next monday I like to get it setup before the kick-off date.

well i had read that sony isnt doing the locationfree, instead they licensed it out to ACCESS co. which makes netfront, and while its supposed to be ready Q3 2006, i'd say we're passed that...... so unless i dont know something, i'd like a link to it because i honestly dont believe it is out yet, as i already own a locationfree box....

UPDATE: This was released in USA mid Dec. 06

I now have the locationfree workign on my x51v. It was a little interesting to set up, as you have to create 2 different profiles, one for inside the house, and another for outside the house. The Sony people were eager to help me over the phone.

I also managed to get this to work via EVDO on the Verizon network. For some reason the 1X doesnt really get enough speed to watch it without being extremely choppy. I must say its pretty cool to be able to walk down the street and access your comcast from the s51v. Or better yet, i used it last night at the Ravens game to watch instant replays from my nosebleed seets lol. But i'll admit......the jumbotron is a little better lol.

Anyway, just wanted to report back. Its $19.80

SlingBox works great on the PPC. The new version is very clean.

Do you really intend on installing Sony software on your machine? Ever hear of a rootkit?

Dotan,

Obvioulsy you are not good at reading, i believe i stated earlier in this post that sony is not making it, instead, Access makes it.

But thanks for the warning anyway...

Sony didn't make the rootkit, either. That was outsourced to First4internet. You should not trust products distributed by Sony, period.

I'll say it again: Don't buy Sony products.
