I had problems too. Not a hard reset, but it wiped out SPB Weather which I had to re-install Seems the only problem so far.

I managed to uninstall SPB Weather and reinstall, didn't need a hard reset.

Hello!

Due to the new specific of WM 5.0 installer there is a potential problem with uninstallation of some Spb Products (Spb Time, Spb Weather) if this product was the first Spb application installed. This problem was unexpected when previous version of Spb Time released. We have not found a good way to fix the problem. But a workaround is added in the new Spb Time 2.1 that will illuminate this problem in the future.

The short resume is - if you having problems with other Spb products after upgrade (or uninstallation) to the new version of Spb Time 2.1, please reinstall these applications again.

Here are some technical details.

New WM 5.0 install manager has a new specific (it may be considered as a bug or as a new feature…). During uninstallation a new install manager removes all registry keys that were specified in installer INF file and created during an installation of the software. The problem is that keys are deleted even if new subkeys were added by other applications. In our case the shared key named Spb Software House is deleted if you uninstall the first installed Spb application. When shared keys is deleted all settings of Spb applications are deleted too… this may cause serious problems.
We tried to backup this important part of the registry and then recover it, but on some WM 5.0 devices the intensive work with registry causes an installer failure as well.

Same thing here, I need to re-install Spb Weather. Wish I would have checked here first, I would not have bother to install the new version of Spb Time.

I'm sorry for that, but the problem is really very tricky. We made a new brainshtorming today and rechecked all peices of installer code. Finally we created a new patch. New build is ready, but we need make a final testing tomorrow.

Anyway we still have no chances to protect users from potential problems related to uninstallation of the previous version.

It was totaly unexpected that installer will kill the keys with other subkeys. And actually it never happend at 2002, 2003(SE).

If you like you can try the recent build.

That's because you have 2003SE. The problem may appear only on WM 5.0.

Installed the new SPB Time 2.1.1 over 2.1.0 and SPB Weather survived. Thanks for the fix and great software.

Spb Time v2.1.1 Now Released

Looks like there was another updated release this past Friday (09/29/06):

Spb Software House released Spb Time 2.1.1.

The new version of the best selling Pocket PC time program improved the setup module of Spb Time 2.1.0 with new advanced workarounds for known WM 5.0 installation problems.

If you have not upgraded to Spb Time 2.1.X yet we recommend you to install 2.1.1 over 2.0.X.

If you receive a warning that the previous version hasnââ,¬â"¢t been successfully uninstalled, please ignore it and continue the installation.

You can download Spb Time 2.1.1 from:
