Question Modify CPU Speed?

Is there a simple and *free* way to modify the CPU setting manually and/or change the CPU speed options under Settings?

The Dell defaults are either all (>520) or nothing (208). I'd like something in the middle (300-400 MHz) that doesn't totally cripple the machine (208) or suck the battery down (>520). I don't like "Auto" because it seems to keep the speed at max anytime a program is running.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Michael

On my x50v, the settings are High Performance (624), Normal (520) and Power Saving (208). (And, of course, Auto.)

Same for X51v. I want something between 520 and 208.

Thanks for the link. I've looked at XCPUScal and think it's too bloated and expensive ($20) for what I need - just a simple way to get to ~350-400 MHz.
