Total Commander 2.5 Beta

Hi all,

Got my Axim 51v about a week ago and been having all kinds of fun. It definitely is a different animal than my Palm T3. After the initial shock of how different it is, I now think I'm going to like it a lot better. More on this at a later date.

My question (sorry if this has already been posted, I searched and couldn't find anything). Has anybody had any experience with Total Commander 2.5 Beta? Is it stable? Or should I use 2.0?

Thanks,
Bill

beta 2.5 is stable. I've been using it for over 2 months with my x51v (rom a12).

I've been using the 2.5beta for a couple of months too, it seems a lot better than the 2.0 and is perfectly stable for me.

More recent developments in paper-based technology include improved ‘write-once’ update devices which use tiny rolling heads similar to mouse balls to deposit colored pigment.

I'll give it a try. It says it's design to work better with WM5 devices.

Does any one know if it will work with bluetooth for file transfer? I have the widcomm stack.

The beta version will not support BT transfer with the widcomm stack. You will have BT transfer with if you revert to the MS stack. I'm sticking with widcomm and still had no problems with 2.5beta.

Sending files via bluetooth using Resco doesn't work with the widcomm hack either. You can use the default file manager of the X51 if you want to send files over bluetooth.

Thanks for replying. I'm definitely going to keep widcomm. So far I'm liking the new total commander.

I've been using the default file explorer for file transfer, but prefer not to if possible. Bluetooth transfer seems to only work with default MS programs and not with most 3rd party software.

I've used 2.5 beta since it first came out, never a single problem.
I don't use BT file transfer, though.

Thanks everybody for the replies. I'll give TC a try.

On another note. I'm amazed I can sit here in my front room reading the Axim site and responding to this thread ON MY AXIM!

Well, it's free so in that way it is better... But I think resco has a lot more functionality like encryption and the menus making a bit more sense. For what it costs I'll stick with Total Commander.

Google Total Commander. On the left sidebar, they have a link to the pocket pc version.
