DVD Movie Catalog

Does anyone know of a DVD Movie Catalog program for the Axim that also has a desktop counterpart that will sync up with each other? I haven't beenable to find one yet.

I don't think that there is currently anything available that has desktop and PPC versions. I use DVD Profiler on my desktop, and it is absolutely the best DVD catalog I've used. It uses your net access, and all you do is type in the UPC code from the DVD box.....it puts up the rest of the information for you. Out of around 120+ DVDs, I have yet to enter one that is not in their database already. If you don't want to do it via UPC, you can do it via Title as well.

Anyhow DVD Profiler has an option to export as either a CSV file or an XML file. Therefore, if you had a DVD catalog for Pocket PC that could import either of these files....it could be done with little problem. I think DVDx for Pocket PC might import CSV files, but I am not positive.

As a side note, there is a menu option in the most recent (a few months old) release of DVD Profiler to "Export to DVD Profiler Pocket." This has led many people to believe that Intervocative is working on a Pocket PC (or PalmOS possibly?) release of DVD Profiler. However, they have yet to comment on this over the past few months.

I'm with you deftech, DVD Profiler is the best, and it's adware or pay to avoid a banner of ads. Just convert it to csv and open it in a spreadsheet. Or cut & paste it into a doc or txt file for a more simpler listing. I use to use a dvd program on my palm, but there is just nothing close to DVD Profiler for a pocket pc or palm.

First time I ever noticed that export to pocket. Sounds like there working on one for sure. I hope they do, that would be really excellent way to keep track of loaner DVD's.

It's been there since (i think) January. And no word from any of the developers on if they're working on it. I'm not counting on it anytime soon, as the desktop versions haven't even been updated since February.

I'm definitely not up on this guys, but someone had posted this link previously:

http://www.hometheaterinfo.com/dvdlist.htm

which is a very up-to-date listing of dvd's in several formats. He brought it to the axim in excel and opened it (after about 5 minutes)... not a pretty experience.

I tried to do the same thing in ListPro, but it would not handle a file that large.

In general I keep track of listings like dvds in listpro myself...
What if this weren't a rhetorical question?

I prefer Ant Movie Catalog for desktop PC DVD cataloging. It has full import/export capability, unlike DVD Profiler that only provides limited export.

There are plenty of scripts available for it to do all sorts of things like extract information from IMDB as well as automatically generating web pages, etc.

Typically what I do is use ListPro to maintain a list of DVDs that I'm interested in buying... along with stores and prices for comparison shopping.

But for browsing a list of my collection, I just have a copy of my online catalog list that gets automatically generated by AMC.

http://www.geocities.com/tcperconti/...ollection.html

This is a one-page setup that I designed and wrote, but there are other page layouts, including one with an index at the top and bottom of the page to quickly jump to that alphabetic section.

I use a little program called media watch, its pretty simple and I think it also can export a file that other archiver desktop programs use if I remember correctly.

Here is a link to MediaWatch: Click Here

Looks like a cool app, and they do have a demo on the page. I'll probably give it a try later this week, and see how/if it interacts with DVD Profiler. Thanks NMkiD.

I use Filermaker Pro Mobile with FM Pro desktop version but far too much if you don't already use FM Pro.

DVDProfiler for PocketPC

Andrea Whitlock is in the process of helping those of us with our DVDs on DVDProfiler exported to the PocketPC. She has already done it for version 1.0, and promises to do it for DVDProfiler 2.0.

Check it out here:

http://darius.mobius-soft.com/~andre...pocketpc.shtml

Needless to say, like many of you, I am ready to start whenever she is finished and makes it possible.

I've been reading the messages on DVDProfiler website and Andrea has been saying "a couple of weeks" since mid-2002.

We can't blame her since she mentions that she was pregnant around that time and probably has her hands full with a baby now.

DVDProfiler has an option for PocketDVDProfiler but they haven't released the pocket version yet.

We'll be waitin' in line behind you for the release of the code for using DVDProfiler 2.0 for PocketPC. Thanks for the service, Jordan. Hope you find the time to work out the details of the distribution with Andrea.
