USB host

Hi,
does anyone know whether it is possible, with a USB female-female connector, to have the axim (X51v) as a USB host - eg using the sync cable (plugged into the f-f connector)?
The first question is - would the hardware allow this - ie can the usb chipset in the axim act as a host.
The second question is - has anyone done this - is there software available?

If it is possible, imagine the possibilities - being able to plug any usb device (for which there were drivers) into the axim - eg usb hard drives, cameras etc...

The axim doesn't have usb hosting capabilities.. its not as simple as swapping a connector.

However Ratoc and Twin paradox make CF USB host adaptors
This week I have been mostly listening to..... Short cummings audio

Is that a hardware limitation (USB chipset used), or software (WM5 limitation)?

So, the X51v - does it have the correct hardware, and has anyone tried it? Note, using things like wm5torage, it is possible to turn the pda into a usb mass storage device... (usb client), so the hardware is configurable to some extent...

Thats the sort of functionality that I was interested in - but can it be done with the existing hardware inside the axim. I guess if no-one knows, then no-one has tried...

You can use "Card Export" to use the Ax as a twin drive rather than using Active sync.
But that doesn't help for adding other things to the Ax.
A closed mouth gathers no foot.
