Aximsitesoftwareicon Software Backup Issues

Hello Everyone. I'm running SKTools v3.1.5 on an Axim x51v and love all of its features . Once a week, I do a Backup using the "All System" option. Twice now, I have had to Hard Reset and restore from a backup.

After a restore, the PDA looks and acts identical to before the Hard Reset which is great, until I sync. The problem is that Files and Notes synchronization with Activesync is lost. I get an error generated that Activesync can't resolve the notes and no matter what I do, won't sync them. As for files, the My Documents folder on my desktop gets wiped clean but the docs are still on the device. No matter what I do, every sync results in the files being deleted. Finally, looking at the registry optimizer, the registry is twice the size after a restore than it was before the reset .

My question is, from your experience, is there a particular backup program out there that can back up the entire system and, once restored, not result in any of these problems? SKTools is the only one that I have ever used. Unfortunately, these issues with SKTools makes me Hard Reset and reinstall to get my synchronization back and that defeats the purpose of a backup . Can you recommend software that has worked for you and can restore the device exactly as it was prior to the reset. Thanks for your help.

Thanks psionandy...I've done much research and am familiar with all of my options out there. I find backup software difficult to demo. I'm just looking for users feedback on which of these actually works the best in real world usage.

Which program actually gives you a restore to the exact condition at the time of backup without any of the headaches I have encountered with SKTools?

Sprite Backup gives me no headaches @ all & also not the ones you incur. Been using this software on all of my family pda - 4 Dell Axims x50v, WM2003se, Rom 5.

I've had opposite experience - SK Tools backup worked fine, Sprite / Sunnysoft didn't.

However I did notice the registry size issue.

I need Sprite but am choking a little on the price, which is not to say it isn't worth the money given the time it takes to reload everything if the backup battery goes dead or some disaster happens. Guess I'm getting to that age where everything starts to seem too expensive.

I still wonder why a full backup feature isn't built into Activesynch and especially why Pocket PC doesn't store programs and settings in nonvolatile memory. It's like having a desktop PC that loses everything in a power failure.

I have Sprite, Spb Backup, and SKTools. I use Sprite for my backup solution.

Then please give me a week or two, and you may be able to purchase it Sprite at a discount rate.

I have been approaching the various vendors (like SpriteSoftware) to negotiate discounts for our members. It's conceivable that there may be a 15% discount available for SpriteSoftware in the near future (two weeks maybe?).

(I was going to point you to the existing thread for discounts that I have created, but it appears to be temporarily misplaced during construction. My apologies. Please be patient with us during construction, hopefully we'll be able to restore the Member Discount list I have already negotiated fairly soon.)
