Like James said, you can back up through active sync. Or if you want a reliable backup program that you can carry with you on your Axim, you might want to look at Pocket Backup Plus.

I use the same as Raynne413. I must say I like it MUCH better that AS although it serves the same funciton.
PB+ allows scheduled backups which is handy-dandy for overnighters with no user intervention. Also I never tried it with AS BU but PB+ places it int a file that you just tap and go to restore. I think they should have the big moustached rainbow-clothed magician appear and say "MAGIC!" eveytime it is done.

Another vote for Pocket Backup Plus! I just purchased it yesterday and it is awesome! The AS backup just never seemed to work right for me. No problems with PBP. Plus, it saves your backups as a self extracting file so you don't need your PC to restore.

The good thing about activesync is then you have a file you can backup onto a CD-ROM. With Pocket Backup Plus you both have to pay for it (
) and then copy the file over to your computer. Seems like a huge waste of time and money for something you can do for free.

PB Plus, in addition to letting you schedule backups, also lets you select what is backed up and what is restored. AS only lets you backup everything and restore everything. Additionally, PB Plus will backup cards. AS won't even touch them.

I guess I just don't see the value in something that is $30.
I can do that for free. Ghost won't let you restore selected parts of the OS (unless it does that with 2003). PB Plus is more like ARCServe, not Ghost. ![]()

Still, I agree, for us lay folks, Ghost is usually not worth the money.

The world may not be perfect yet, but the Axim is (almost).

Its just many more convienences with PB+ vs AS. Like I said before, AS does the same, just more options/configurations to do so. I am sure you could have AS autonomically perform a backup. Like I mentioned before, that file it creates can be then moved to a PC and if you want to restore it, as in the WHOLE system on the Axim, that file can be put on a unit after a hard reset and the WHOLE system is restored. No installing any programs such as PB+ again etc.. It is really convienent. I would go far enough to say it is a must-have. Like Pocket Information or Agenda Fusion, the PPC will do it by itself anyways, its just more conviences in it with the 3rd party apps. ![]()

I think for home users ghost is a good system backup but is better for multiple systems which I think it is more capable with the functions it has. It is not designed for a data backup as far as say individual files, contacts, databases etc.. Ghost further goes into networking, backup via networking, restore via networking, disk functions as far as specific partitions etc.. Much more that I even use.
PB+ is similar in the sense that it is a system BU/Restore. If you want individual user files backed up, place them in the MyDocuments folder and AS will do that for you albeit limited in its functions.

Transfer Apps from one PDA to another
Hi Guys,
Since we are on the topics of backup, does anyone out there know of anyway to transfer all the applications and data from one PDA to another of a different kind and model? regards CKBE
