Cool ActiveSyncToggle 1.0.1

Have you ever been forced to restart your PC because of an ActiveSync screwup?? I know I have! My problem is that every now and then, ActiveSync will begin to sync and say that there are "Unresolved Items". This occurs even when there are no unresolved items, and if I uncradle the Axim and then place it back in the cradle.....ActiveSync refuses to sync again. This is because wcescomm.exe has hung up, and I have to reboot to clear it up. This wouldn't be a problem if my PC weren't giving me another problem right now with a bootup process.....but that's a whole different tale.

Anyhow, I found this nice little utility tonight while browsing around that lets you toggle ActiveSync wcescomm.exe to enabled or disabled. So when this problem occurs, I can simply disable wcescomm.exe....and then enable wcescomm.exe and all is well.

Download ActiveSyncToggle 1.0.1 Here: Click Here

Here is an example of a "typical Activesync problem" from their website that it fixes:

From answersthatwork.com

One of the most common problems with ActiveSync is the WCESCOMM process hanging because ActiveSync encountered problems during synchronization. When that happens the user often has no option but to shutdown and restart his PC before ActiveSync will again recognize his Pocket PC. Another issue is WCESCOMM interfering with your connection to a network, or preventing the user from using some of his serial or USB ports with other software. Finally, when not in use, WCESCOMM can often still consume up to 10% of CPU processing time ! Disabling it with Startup Manager does not work because it is re-installed as a startup item the next time you manually start ActiveSync ! If you have any of the above problems, download ActiveSyncToggle from our Downloads page – it enables you to stop and start ActiveSync (in the shape of WCESCOMM) as and when you really need it.

Great program. I have been using it for a few weeks now. It has helped resolved some issues on my PC.

Cool. I currently have some stability issues that have popped up since I upgraded to 3.7. Perhaps this will delay having to reinstall Xp. Thanks for finding this.

I have never experienced a problem, at least not one requiring a restart. Ever since I got XP, it seems no matter what I do to this machine, I can just keep right on moving...
