Question disk defragmenter

Does such a program exist, like Executive Diskeeper. Would it even matter with the current ROM configuration of the ax?

That's what I was thinking, Phoenix.

Anyway, it really doesn't matter since RAM or the FlashROM doesn't defrag files easily. But for you storage cards, I would use something like StorageTools by Softwinter.

Even with storage cards it won't matter. The reason to defrag with a hard drive is because it has to move around everything it needs to find the next "fragment" of a file you are accessing.

Because storage cards (or RAM, ROM, etc.) are solid state memory, they are able to access every memory location at the exact same speed. Therefore it does not matter if you defrag it or not.

The only thing I can think that would make these programs worth it, might be for a MicroDrive....but even they don't seem to have fragmenting problems IMO.

Is the read/write head of a microdrive that fast as to where it just seems not to have and fragmenting problems? Now that's pretty cool.

I'm really not sure....I just haven't "noticed" anything....of course, I haven't used a MicroDrive in years either. So who knows with the large ones that are out now.

V...yep

I'm a huge fan, and am pyched about the new series, I wish it was sooner b/c now it will be more like V2:The Next generation or something, but the original writer is coming back, so at least we can count on a better ending than in last battle. In the epic words of Comic Book Guy, "Worst Ending Ever"!
