I'm a new axim owner and want to know what software I need to take some control over the way my Pocket PC is organized. I want to move program icons around. Add and delete them. Put more stuff on the desktop (i couldn't call it a palmtop) such as battery meter etc. and delete the start buttons that I never use. Windows gives you so much control in customizing that I need it with my pocket pc but I can't figure out what category of software does that.

You might want to browse the /Windows/Start menu folder. For the desktop stuff, you should look for "Today Plugins" and they are configurable on the Today panel of the Settings.

There is a freeware program called "launcher" that puts icons on your screen. There are other programs available that do this but I haven't tried them.

To show/hide item in the start menu
go to StartMenu->Settings->Menu

To add/delete items from the start menu
using your file explorer go to \windwos\startmenu\
add or remove links there

To add icons to your desktop (it's called "today screen") you a need aprogram launcher (like TDlaunche)

To add battary meter, there is a freeware called bat_mem_time that goes to your TodayScreen

To organize things in your TodayScreen go to StartMenu->Settings->Today->Items

To add themes, copy them over from your PC to your PocketPC (in a first level directory, i.e. \MyDocuments, \Windows, \CF Card, ...etc)

To change the theme go to StartMenu->Settings->Today
