I uploaded an Excel sheet which i created to track my mileage in another forum. Here is the link:
Simple calculator to compute your car's mileage, Cost / KM, Distance between fills... - Team-BHP The charts in the sheet work with WM5.0 and later. This is done for Kilometers. You may have to change it to miles. You may loose some formatting when saving in PDA but still it works perfectly.

I bought a tiny GPS gadget made specifically for the purpose of logging miles for my tax deduction at Vulocity Mileage Logger. All I do is plug it into the car adapter and it does everything else for me. Whenever I want to see my miles, I just log in online...Definitely saved my behind in taxes last year. Highly suggest it!

At those rates, you would have to drive many miles just to cover the cost of the unit, and to cover the monthly charge as well?

Good point DavesPPC. Any serious salesman or self employed business owner is driving at least 30,000 business miles a year. At today's rate of $.505 per mile, that's a $15,150 deduction straight off of your bottom line on your Schedule C. The mileage plan is only $14.95 per month and compared to the deduction that I can prove it's a drop in the bucket as far as I'm concerned. Still a must have for independent business owners. You do the math.
