Active Sync-computer not seeing me connected
I've tried to look for answers to this question but to be honest have been quite overwhelmed. All I was trying to do was synchronize with my new Dell dimension 4600 and I am also wanting to synchronize with my home computer. Both systems use Windows XP. When I originally installed on the Dell everything went smoothly. Outlook synchronized properly with my calendar, contacts, files, and notes. But due to a software conflict unrelated, I had to go back to office 2000 (Outlook 2000 as well) and this caused a problem. Now, even though before the computer saw my USB connection, every time I connect through my cable USB connection, and I hear the computer acknowledge the connection, active sync continues to indicate I am not connected. When I try to use the Wizard to create connection it clearly shows the USB is available but does not indicate that it sees my Axim connected. X. P. even indicates that it sees new hardware Axim 5 and that the hardware is ready to be used but never is seen by the computer otherwise. I've tried uninstalling from control panel and reinstalling but I continue to get these errors. I have my data backed up on my other computer so that's not a problem. And I have a feeling I will have to redo my partnership.
Any ideas would be appreciated. I have a feeling something has been left behind from the original install and is causing it not to be recognized currently. Any thoughts? Thanks.

1- when you said you tried to uninstall and reload I guess you meant activesync? If not that is the first thing I would try.
2- If that does not work delete the partnership for the Axim and try another name for it. If this does not work I would try to connect as a guest, that will tell you it can connect. 3- Do you run 2002 or 2003? This could be a problem with a 2002 driver that needs to be upgraded. 4- Also a soft reset could be needed, but I'm sure you tried that. chuck

Thanks Chuck.
The problem was (Duh) I hadn't done a soft reset. I've had this since early December and should have thought of this! I just haven't had to set up a paternership since I did for my 2 computers back in December. Then the new partnership went with out a hitch on the new one untill I had to step back to Office 2000 from Office XP. Hopefully I'll remember when I get to go back up tp Officce XP. Again thanks for clearing the cobwebs!! Keith
