Activesync should be called inactivesync
Here I am once more with a complaint about my Axim and its software. As soon as I upgraded to ppc03 I had to establish a new partnership with my AXim. I did this as it was a new OS and to be expected. Then every time I connected to my Axim I was prompted to establish a new partnership or log on as a guest. After a un-install of activesync and re-install I got the Axim to sync a couple of times on the same partnership. Then it started over again with prompting me to set up a partnership or sync as a guest. This time I had to comb the registry and delete all reference to activesync for the re-install to work. I was then able to sync for about a week before the problem once again came up. Now it is sitting here wanting to establish a partnership.
This is on top of the problem that since I installed ppc03 I have not been able to sync with my work laptop via Infrared. I was synching just fine after the last ROM upgrade, now that too is lost. I know lots of people are having activesync problems, not just me.

Hate to break it to you, but ActiveSync is not a Dell application but a Microsoft application. Dell itself has little or no control over it. Having said that, lets consider the issues you are having
I know from experience that AS with A05 works as designed - no issues. Knowing this and the fact you did have it working, although breifly, leads me to believe that lurking somewhere on your Ax is an application that is conflicting with AS. (I suspect the Ax as you can't sync to either of 2 computers.) So what to do? Assuming you have done the obligatory soft reset, I suggest you do a full backup and sync, a hard reset and reinstall your applications, one at a time, starting with AS. Use the instructions that came with the upgrade for setting up the new partnership. This may solve the conflict completely, or it may point to the application causing the issue. Good luck.

No help, just another voice of sympathy for the sorry software that is activstinck. It's buggy, crappy software that handles exceptional situations poorly and normal situations just as poorly. Some day we'll have real syncronization software; until then there's activstinchk.

Still sympathetic, but I'm with shdytxmn that activsync can work with WM 2003. I installed, with some trepidation, WM 2003 this past weekend, and it went swimmingly. So far, so good. Activsync works, to a point, but I still need to both soft reset the axim and delete and rebuild (twice a day) a .dll file that some program, maybe Eudora, is fighting over with activsync (or maybe fighting with Outlook, I am way too inexpert to tell).
There's no excuse for activesync, though. The only thing slower is PIE, AS is full of bugs, it doesn't play nice with other software, any exceptional situation will kill it outright, and many usual situations will also render it inactivesync. The handspring device running Palm OS I had previous to my axim sucked in a lot of ways, but it at least had robust and well-behaved syncing software. I can't believe there isn't at least a third-party alternative; I, for one, would beat a path to the door of anyone selling actual working sync software for the ppc. So, sorry Old Codger, I'm even less help now than I was before (hah! my comfort zone!), but I feel your pain.
