Isn't that feature already built-in? Under Settings | Power | Avanced tab .. You can set how long before it automatically turns itself off ..

I have a X5 that turns itself on randomly and will not turn itself off until the main battery is drained. I left it on the counter and did not touch it for several hours and when I went back the unit was on and had run almost 50% of a fully charged battery down. Can anybody offer some help.

Thanks,

Rich

Axim Turns Itself On

Assuming you have appointments with the notifications, try turning the display message on screen function off.

Start, Settings, Personal, Sounds and Notifications, Notification tab at bottom, Selection an Event - the last one on the list is Reminders. Select. Remove check from "Display message on screen".

This drove me crazy for weeks before some kind soul posted this solution here awhile back.

Good Luck!!

Program to turn off accidental turn ons

My Ax was turning on by itself, so I found this little handy (free) program that counts down from 5. If you don't respond within the 5 second countdown, it'll shut off. Thus, saving you from a dead battery if your Ax decides its lonely and wants to play a game or something in the middle of the night.

Gerk;

Do you have a link to the developer's website or the site you originally got it from?

I, personally, like to read a bit about an app before I just download & install...........particularly betas.

MrKlaatu,

I thought I found it on this site, but I can't remember for sure. The web site mentioned in the little disclaimer that is displayed the first time you start the program is:
www.elevatestudios.com/pocket

I can understand your caution, especially with betas, I've had it for awhile and it's worked pretty well.

regards,
gerk

I tried every thing I could think of to stop my X5 from turning on and not turning off. I could not solve the problem. I had quiet a few aftermarket programs and figured that maybe one of them might be the problem. I backed up the unit and did a hard reset. I restored the data from backup and the problem persisted. I finally did another hard reset and just synced the unit and did not restore from backup. It has been working fine since. It must have been one of the add on programs. I will post it if I can determine which program was causing this behavior.

Guys-
Two things which may solve your problems:
1. If you have your Axim in a case which might be touching the screen (even just a little) when it resets itself at midnight (to do rollovers and other clean ups), the Axim will "think" that your touching the screen and it will stay on.
2. When you disconnect your Axim from Active Sync, don't just de-cradle it. Actually close out of the Active Sync application.
Let me know if this works...

I actually left mine out of the case completely on the counter and I closed down all processes. It still would not turn off. I am sure now that it was a program but I have not been able to determine which one. I have had it running since the hard reset for several weeks in the case and have not had any problems. I may at a later time try to determine what program was causing the problem and if I can I will post it.

Thanks,

Rich
